Max Preps has GRC ranked #27 in the state: George Rogers Clark High School (Winchester, KY) Basketball Rankings
-
Gotcha. TC has a high-major D1 guard and a young potential D1 guard. The close game with them tells me Moe can play.
Without knowing the dynamics of that game, who played or who didn't, match ups... etc, its hard to tell.
I like the quality of CovCath's players... and love their coaching and system. Then again, maybe the underclassmen from Moe are stepping up?
-
Do you think CCH is a lot better than Taylor County? 14-3. Frakes has TC 5th in the state.
I know nothing about Taylor County.
I am very familiar with most of the players from CovCath and Moeller though. I like CovCath by 15+
-
Really bad down year for Moe this season... they do not have the horses to compete with CovCath.
The Blue Colonels by 15+

Starting to wonder if people on here are over rating Dixie a bit.
How are they overrated? Walter has them ranked 4th in the 9th. I wouldn't call that overrated.
-
It's funny how numbers impact things. While I agree that Weyer is deserving of the 9th region player of the year at this point, and Drew McDonald should be considered for Mr Ky, I'd argue that hands down Pangallo is the most important player for NCC.
-
You are correct. My apologies. Did stats while calling game on the radio.
I want to know how to get those seats!
-
Holy Cross hit 9 3 pointers on the night I agree....But HC did NOT sink their FTs as this is what cost them a chance to steal this one. They were 11/20 for the night and missed 3 front ends of the bonus. Dixie also struggled at the line going 12/23.
HC Scoring:
Bezold 14
Schrand 10
Scott 8
Jakubowski 7
Seibert 7
Dixie Scoring:
Schreck 15 (really love watching this kid play).
Rabe 11
Moore 7
Meyer 6
Hedger 5
I do know that this one had 13 points
-
I don't have stats for the game, but I'm pretty sure Schreck led Dixie in scoring with another solid effort. Mitch Bolin is finally back and looked good knocking the rust off. Hedger battled hard down low as always. Drew Moore made some clutch FTs down the stretch to help seal the victory. Rabe is still rusty with his shot after missing a week with his ankle injury.
All in all it was nice to see Dixie's main rotation of 8 guys tonight, finally playing in the same game. Give them a couple of weeks to gel and I think they will makes some noise!
Bezold from HC was hitting 3s from DEEP tonight! Channeling Steph Curry!
-
Holy Cross hit 3s from everywhere and sank their FTs. Dixie could not put the ball in the bucket, but held on for the 1 point win.
-
If they are all healthy I like South by 10.
Good prognostication!

Like my brother always tells his players... if the Ref calls it a foul, then its a foul... and if the Ref does not call a foul, then it is not a foul.

Dixie vs. Holy Cross round 2!
The Red Colonels travel to Covington Holy Cross for a 7:30 tip.
Dixie will finally have Mitch Bolin 6'8 back in action tonight. If Holy Cross thought Dixie was big the first time they played this year in the Ashland Invitational late December, then they will think they are GIANT tonight. Matt Isbel 6'4, who also missed the first game, will play in this one as well.
The Indians are coming off an impressive 81-57 beatdown of Lloyd and will be looking for revenge tonight.
Who wins, and why?

Sorry, I had my little one last night. Didn't get on after the game.
Schreck had a great game for Dixie... Ryle could not match up with him. Rabe had 7 points on just 5 shots taken. Isbel didn't just hang on the rim... he followed up a miss high above the rim, grabbed it with 2 hands and slammed it with AUTHORITY! He received a T for pulling himself up on the rim, in essence doing a chin-up. It was worth it
Story of the game was Coach Chevy's subbing... he gave significant minutes to several JV players. I guess he thought the game was never in doubt, as they were in, playing minutes in the 1st half. Against the better teams these kids don't see the floor and its a totally different game for Dixie.
Mitch Bolin returns tonight against Holy Cross.

coach W likes this thread!
All but 1...

He would have Williams for lunch..
Are you sure about that? Have you even seen Williams play? Have you even seen Henry play (or just watched that video?)

Dixie adds another soft win,,Dixie by 22.
LOL
I'm sure the Ryle players appreciate that.
-
Congrats to Ethan!

If they are all healthy I like South by 10.

Although Ryle is starting to hint at some strides in mid-season experience, my knee-jerk hunch is expecting to see all out Red Colonel domination and them showing just how far they've come since their often meager early season quest for finding themselves. I'm feeling that they're now truly finding themselves, and will make this emphatically known with a victory in exclamation fashion.
Dixie by 20+
I think they are starting to hit a groove, but still have a lot of improvement to go. Rabe should be back after missing the last game (as well as the last quarter of the St Henry game) and a few practices. And Mitch Bolin, while he is back from his hiatus, will be serving the second game of his 2 game suspension (I'm assuming without pay ). I think by the time they get to the Scott County tournament toward the end of this month we will finally see what Dixie has under the hood. The good news is that the 2 football players are back in basketball shape and contributing in stellar fashion.

The Ryle Raiders (4-10) travel to Edgewood tonight to face the Dixie Heights Colonels (9-4) at 7:45.
Ryle is coming off a big 58-51 win over Beechwood and also hold a signature win over Newport (61-57) in a game played right before Christmas.
Dixie is riding a 6 game winning streak and still waiting to play a game with all their players available and in basketball shape.
This game features a battle of teacher (Coach Chevy) and student (McFarland), as David McFarland cut his teeth coaching under the tutelage of Coach Ken Chevalier. Will Coach Chevy be teaching Coach McFarland a few more lessons tonight? Or will Coach McFarland flip the script and pull the upset?
Who wins and why?

Congrats Coop! A good kid indeed... great family too!

Slasher, great leaper, alters tons of shots. Not thick, but strong. Not much of an outside shooter. Currently my vote for 10th region POY. There are a few others I need to check out first.
How does he compare to Williams from Dunbar?

The Ludlow Panthers travel to Edgewood tonight for a 7:30 tip against the Dixie Heights Colonels.
The Panthers enter tonight's contest with a .500 record (8-8). Their signature win of the season so far is a 54-50 win over Beechwood, on December 20th, in the Beechwood Tiger Classic. They also made a good showing in the 12th Monticello Banking Company Holiday Classic, advancing to the championship game and losing to Wayne County.
The Red Colonels are on an 8-game winning streak and are 11-1 in their last 12 games. Tonight will mark just the 3rd game of the season that they will have their full compliment of players.
