  1. I was at the game and didn't think it was officiated unfairly. Newport played a very aggressive style of defense, using a lot of hands, and the officials were not allowing it. Players (and coaches) need to learn to adjust to how the game is being called. Had the officials allowed the more aggressive style, then Dixie would have needed to adjust and play that way. Newport just never adjusted.

  2. There are lots of examples of "undersized, too slow, not athletic enough" players who don't get the proper attention they should have...

    • Stephen Curry - 6'3" / 180 "He lacks great height, length or strength, and possesses below average lateral quickness, making ..."

    • Chris Lofton - 6'0 / 190

as well as "prototypical" physical specimens who don't quite pan out.

I believe BH has all the intangibles to be a big-time collegiate player... the biggest one possibly being heart. He plays with tremendous focus and passion and is a FIERCE competitor.

  3. He is simply undersized and lacks quickness for high major D1 level, IMO.

He is definitely NOT "undersized" standing at least at 6'2" (more like 6'3") and being very thick and strong. I'm 6' on the dot and look up at him when I stand next to him. And while he may not be the quickest player to ever play at the (high) DI level, he certainly wouldn't be the slowest. The combination of his size, skill, strength and shooting range enable him to create shots for himself against "superior" athletes. I've seen several of his AAU games this past summer playing against (and with) legit DI talent and he more than held his own.

  4. Concerning the Snapp boy, I got there at the start of the 2nd qtr and he did not play during that time.

I totally agree with B-Ball-fan that Newport is way better than folks were expecting. Their two bigs were easily 6'5 to 6'6 and played above the rim. I've seen Walton, Conner and Dixie play preseason games and feel that Newport beating any of them would not be a surprise.
