  1. The Red Colonels of Dixie Heights travel to Hebron to take on the Conner Cougars for a 2:00 varsity tip.

The Red Colonels are riding a 9 game winning streak and have won 12 out of their last 13. This game marks the beginning of a brutal second half stretch in which Dixie will only play three more home games, out of the remaining 14+ games scheduled.

The Cougars are coming off a thumping at the hands Campbell County and are 3-3 over their last 6 games.

Will Conner be able to handle Dixie's size (bigger than Campbell County) and smothering half-court defense? Will Dixie be able to handle Conner's full court press and fast paced style?

    Who wins and why?

(This game is a triple header. Freshmen game tips at 11:00, JV at 12:30 and Varsity at 2:00)

  2. I would agree if it had been in the regional finals and the cumulative fatigue was in place. Poor foul shooting and shooting in general has doomed them the past 4 seasons. Not to mention, the 35th playing their district there gives Holmes and CovCath a huge advantage in the opening round. As long as they don't catch either in the 1st round of Regionals, this could be a very good year.

  4. Sorry, but I completely disagree with this. Now, maybe you could make the argument that because Smithton County went 0-25 that Johnny Jones, a really good player for Smithton shouldn't be in the conversation because, well they would have went 0-25 without him. But beyond that I don't think it's fair to lump kids into the category of "their teams aren't a contender".

So, lets say Owen County goes 18-9 and loses in the fist round of the district tournament and misses out on region. Can Carson Williams now not be considered for MVP? Under your definition I would say that would be the case. Which is why I can't agree with it.

This is where "MVP" and "best player" fork in the road.

For example, in the state of KY last year I'd argue that Nick Ruthsatz was the "MVP" of the state -- and that Snider was the "best player."

The MVP puts the team on his back and wins the region.
