  1. Tyshawn Embs of Carroll County....2500 yards rushing, 30+ td's......that doesn't rate an honorable mention?

He was also on the Best of the Bluegrass roster. How this team is picked is screwey.. But as others have stated, the media has a big say it in, so if they don't see the kid, or hear much about him, he won't get the votes. With Carroll Co. being a smaller school, and not making a big push in the playoffs, there isn't much exposure for them around the state. I think it's silly, but there's not much can be done about it.

  2. The other question I have if this is all true is what is current Georgetown OC Craig Mullins going to do?

    Now coaching at Morehead State.,

Eviston had an outstanding career at GC.. He led the tigers to multiple National Championships, and was 3 time NAIA player of the year.. Congrats to him and furthering his coaching career. It will be nice for him to be able to return to Georgetown.

  3. I agree with what DoubleDeuce said earler.. Fogle only recieves HM recognition??? How does a kid who's selected to both the Best of the Bluegrass, and the Border Bowl rosters, 1st team Offense and 1st team defense on both all district and region teams, 4A/5A P.O.Y, and 5A district 5 P.O.Y. only make HM on the All State Team.. He missed two games due to injury and still was towards the top of all stat categories.. Makes absolutely no sense..

Barker only recieving HM recognition, is mind blowing as well..

Congrats to those who made the list..

You turned down a chance for a free education and to play D1 ball for the opportunity to pay for part of your education at a small school? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing that unless the small school is someplace like Harvard.

Did I say I opted to pay for school? No, you assumed. D1 is not the only level to get a full ride.

  5. Middle and High School teachers and coaches have to go through background checks and extensive training on subjects from rules' date=' techniques to first aide. If the subject of this thread had a criminal record, he would not have been hired. That being said, do non-school affiliated leagues like NKYFL and BCPWFL do background checks and require annual certification from their coaches?[/quote']

I believe that the youth leagues do require some sort of background check. I do not think it is as extensive as the ones the middle and high school teachers and coaches go through

  6.

Wow, this post is comical. Sounds like someone is just a little defensive. Lots of false assumptions on your part here, but when someone is on the defense, this is what you get.

Glad I could entertain you... I just get so tired of hearing those types of questions when something is brought up about a player being good.

Not saying you in particular, but there are people out there who think "well so and so doesn't have offers, so he must not be as good as they say"

What is comical are these coaches who are calling kids, hyping them up about commitment and whatnot, then two weeks later they are on to greener pastures.. I delt with it when I was in high school and being recruited.

I was pretty good, on the all state roster blah blah... I had division 1offers and played small college ball. Why? Because I liked the coaches and they were genuine.

There are people out there who have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to talent.

Didn't mean to bomb on you RE.. You just happened to be the one who mentioned it.

  7. I'm curious. How many of these players have D1 offers?

It's not always about how many "D1 offers" a kid has.. this award is not only based on what they did on the field, but also what kind of young man they are off the field. It's an honor to be selected, It's not a peeing contest to see who's got the most interest from blow hard college coaches.

I personally get tired of hearing "how many offers?" "who's offered?" Just because someone may not have multiple offers, or offers from Big 10 schools, doesn't mean they are not a great football player.. All of the players honored at last night's banquet deserve it, and represent their schools very well.

Some of them may play D1AA, D2, NAIA, or not at all.. Some will play other sports in college, some will not play any sports, and double major and get a PHD..

Congrats to the Top 26.. You all earned it.

  8. I have to admit as neutral observer, Barker getting shut out of this list is stunning. Nussbaum being listed twice is overkill. Is this a coaches or a media selection???? Is this list limited to juniors and seniors?

This is a NKY all star team, not limited to just Jrs and Srs. To my knowledge tristate football accepted nominations for a few weeks, and then put together their allstars. Why is it overkill? If the kid deserves to be 1st team on both sides of the ball, why keep him off the list? So someone else, who may not be as deserving makes the 1st team? Not everyone gets a trophy, although I think many people these days feel that way.
