Mustang Nation

Col. Mike Your so right. Shame on me as well for not having David Levitch in the North mix. He 's got a great AAU pedigree, is very court savvy and also has an 8th grade brother that could surpass older brother when all is said and done. Both boys should easily top 6'3 as they get older and have the ingredients to be the best talent to ever come out of North.

Going to be an interesting year for the Mustangs. The obvious big plus is having Dave Henly from Covington Holmes as the Mustangs new head coach. Looks to be a huge trade up from the past coaching staff. On the court..... Devon Rowan is a 6'7 big man that should grow into a real force this year. Max Steinfeld is a 6'1 Senior guard that should run the show for the Mustangs and compliment Rowan very well. Steinfeld has great court skills and shooting ability yet had been streaky early last year and then went on a tear late season with all District and all region tourney honors. Junior Jacob Clark has "all world" talent and physical skills. If he gains some confidence he can be a force. Watch out for Sophomore Kyle Kozak. Huge gains in his physical growth and court skills may have this 6'5 as a big sleeper talent for the eighth region and could add a nice resource for the Mustangs off the bench.

DI scholarships can mean a lot of different things. Are we talking full ride scholarships ? Partial ? When we talk about how many kids are going to the DI level I wonder how many from the state have the talent, but as Roman Empire pointed out there are many aspects of advancing ones self that need to be addressed to make it a reality. There are also the financial realities. I wonder how many kids are offered enough scholarship money to get them pumped at the thought of attending but not enough money to be realistic for a lot of families to pick up the difference ? It would be interesting to know how many Kentucky players would be DI players but will not due to either the academic or financial reasons ?

Kentucky VS Tennessee Middle School All Star Game June 5 at Doss High Louisville. I put information about it here about a week ago and it was moved by site administration. Not sure why ? http://www.kprepsports.com/Events.aspx

Terry Gates. You got it. I moved from Ballard to UVA at the same time and think Gates did in fact go to UVA also. Thanks ! Pretty amazing when you look at it that there were 3 future NBA players on that one team.

yeah your right. Wish I could remember the big center? Ended up going to Washington & Lee or William and Mary ?

Ok Google search masters or those with a few gray hairs! I'm going nuts trying to remember who all was on that Championship team roster in 1977. I know 1st round NBA pick Jeff Lamp, also Lee Raker. I believe Jerry Eaves was a freshman or sophomore but cannot remember who else was there. Any trivia nuts out there that can help? Thanks.

Curious if anyone was signed up for Coach Strong's High School three day camp in June?

There were a lot of players and parents saying that If Danny Edelen had stayed at North they would not come back. With the coaching change we are now hearing that several of the players that walked away from Edelens program in past years are making noise about trying out for Coach Henley.

The obvious big question with North is how quickly Coach Henley will get the guy's playing at his level. The odd "style" that Danny Edelen tried to use could not be more different that what we expect will come with Henley and will require a lot of hard work in a short period of time. The up side for North is that with the big man Devon Rowan and Senior Guard Max Steinfeld they have a good core to work from. Junior Jacob Clark is an all world talent that just needs to break out. The freshman and sophomore classes look very promising in both size and talent.
