  1. I think the bottom line is in a few years nobody will remember how easy their draw was... Just the fact that they made it to the final 4. :thumb:
  2. Ah Ha! http://www.kentucky.com/813/story/758492.html
  3. Tony Larusa has notoriously batted his pitchers in the 8 spot in the line-up several times throughout his managerial career. Dusty just thinks it will effect the mental preperation for the normal 8 hitter if he were to choose to hit the pitcher in front of him. Owings can hit. I am really looking forward to seeing if the Reds can complete the sweep in tonights game!
  4. There are only 4 kids listed on that page? Are there more?
  5. Will someone post a lkink to the Herald Leader's All-State team?
  6. Yeah, I think Weir has been Lincoln's Ace since he was a Freshman. He is now a Junior and that much experience can be tough to beat.
  7. How did Polson from West Jessamine get left out of Honorable mention?
  8. Great work Bat-Pats! Keep it up. 7 games in a row is very impressive!:thumb:
  9. congrats to all that made the All-State teams... 12th Region... Aaron Watts (McCreary Central) Second Team Ethan Spurlin (Lincoln County) Honorable Mention
  10. How old were the UNC team with Felton, McCants, & May? I think they were young. Florida with Noah, Horford, & Brewer? Michigan fab 5 is the obvious one. Syracuse with Carmelo Anthony, Edelin, McNamara all Freshman & Warrick (Soph). It isn't as rare as many think. Also I said get to the final 4 not the national championship.
  11. Michigan, Syracuse, Florida. Any of those?
  12. I got to watch the second half on FSN when I got home for the Derby Classic in Louisville. I was most impressed with Xavier Henry. I hope we can get him. He probably will be a top 5 pick in the NBA draft after his freshman year. If Henry was 1 on my list then Wall was 1A! Wall was quick... Nobody could guard him 1 on 1 from the World team. He got to the basket and his finishes were very crafty! I would love to see both of them in a UK uniform next season. I will probably take some flack for saying this, but if UK gets both Henry & Wall next year we will be in the final 4 with or without Patterson & Meeks!
  13. That may be a great point. I was just getting ready to post that I thought he shot the ball way too much and forced everything. There were fans behind me yelling at him to pass it, and when he would miss a shot they were yelling for the coach to take him out. I just laughed. He should be able to come in and play at FSU. But I don't recall him shooting many jumpers in the game (probably because he got to the rim so easily). I thought Siva was the best all-around player there.
  14. I think Watford had 4 and ones in the game. That is impressive to me. He also stuck 2 or 3 threes. Indiana has a nice group coming in. Creek looked great in the first half, and didn't make much of an impression on me in the second half though. Louisville has 2 players that should be able to come right in and contribute in Buckles & Siva. Van Trees will play as a Junior and Senior probably and The kid everyone on here already loves to hate, Marra, will probably be a thorn in UK's side for years to come. I thought he was only going to be a spot-up 3-point shooter, but I was wrong. He can get up with anyone in college basketball. Kentucky had Orton who reminded me so much of Magloire that it was frightening. His foot-work was very good for a kid that has been injured for a full season. He was also a rebounding machine. There were no second shots when he was in the game. Hood also impressed me. He should be able to be a serious contributer by his Junior year at UK. Bledsoe didn't impress me as much as I expected, he is a nice defender, but in a game like this I guess I was looking for too much offence. I am sure he will be a solid player. Dennis was not impressive at all. Maybe he was injured? I don't know.
  15. I would love to get some more info on this game... Anyone have any?
  16. He'll be 23 years old in under a month. Still young enough to be a good player, I am just not holding my breath.
  17. Minor league pitcher of the year is often about hype not numbers. There were other pitchers in the system with comparable numbers with Baileys. But he was the #1 pick with the large contract. He needed the "mental & emotional lift" that the Minor League Pitcher of the year award in the Reds system would bring. However it hasn't helped him... i.e. the majority of his big league starts. I am just saying that most first round draft choices have made their mark in 5 years. Maybe he is a slow starter/late bloomer. Heck, we can only hope. I would love to have him pitch well in AAA. That way if and when one of our current starters in the rotation get injured there won't be a big drop off, and maybe Homer can finally live up to all the hype. Just don't get fooled by the Reds farm system giving him pitcher of the year. He has never won any national MiLB awards, nor will he the way he has pitched. :thumb:
  18. Please see my complete post, I had to make an edit. ^^^
  19. About what? The lack of 3 good starts in a row in the minors. He as been a triple A pitcher for several years now. And his ERA has been quite high. I may have exagerated a bit with 3 good starts in a row, but he still hasn't had much of a life down there. I have been following him religiously since 2004 (with the help of Baseball America email updates) and he has not been very impressive for years. Tons of hype and nothing to back it up. He isn't a big league pitcher in the Reds system. Why is that so wrong?
  20. You may be right. I haven't liked his attitude at times. There are several orgainzations, the Twins & Braves come to mind, that would not have put up with his insibordination early on.
  21. I will be attending for the first time this year as well! I am really looking forward to it. When the McDonald's All-American game came to Louisville a couple years ago it was really cool. I got to see Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, O.J. Mayo, Nick Calathes, Patrick Paterson, Eric Gordon, and several other future NBA stars in person and that was great. I hope some of these kids at the Derby Festival Classic turn into great college players and get their shot in the Association one day!
  22. Yes, but they have shown the ability to bounce back from rough outings. Homer hasn't strung together 3 good starts in a row in his entire minor league career (5 years now). And I don't know who is happy about it. As a Reds fan, I want him to be successful.
  23. I think Homer would be better served in a new atmosphere. He obviously has a world of potential, but the Reds system doesn't look to be doing him much good. If the Reds could get a decent prospect (like a SS) I would be for moving him.
  24. What does that take Lincoln Co.'s record to? I listened to it on the radio some. Washington Co. was up 6 to 4 and Lincoln came back to take the lead in the 6th innning.
