  1. This was a good game to watch. Dixie and Holmes played extremely physical all night. I don't think that Holmes was not focused , I just think Dixie brought something more than what they expected. Dixie played above average tonight, probably one of their best games of the season. I was surprised that Pittman did not recieve a second technical when the two teams had to be seperated. He was not in the game during that time and he rushed the floor. The only player to do so for both teams. I thought that was automatic. However I am not 100% sure on that kind of call. Good game overall. Holmes is exceptionally talented and Dixie played with alot of heart.

  2. All of these kids are great shooters and I believe all of the eighth graders have played on the same team during aau ball. If you are going to compare game stats, Hatton had 34 points and seven three point goals in an overtime win vs Simon Kenton. I hope all of these kids live up to the hype that everyone gives them, don't get the big head and keep working there tails off to accomplish there dreams.

  3. From talking to his parents the hatton kid will be 18 his entire senior season not 19(late april birthday).I don't think he is done growing his parents have said the doctors have said he could be anywhere from 6'2 to 6'6 (his uncle kevin eilers is 6'9 who playes at holmes and in college in early 90's). lets all hope he is not done growing because with a few more inches he could get some looks from major colleges

  4. His parents didn't realize he would be only 17 as a graduate until 6 years into grade school? I heard he was also a very good QB in peewee, any chance he plays football again?

Of course they did. However I don't believe that you realize how beneficial one year of school can be for their maturity. I don't think that is necessarily something you are looking at , at four or five years old. I don't think it would matter what anyone said why he was held back people are still going to talk about it. I think this subject has been talked about several times. Regardless of his heldback status the fourteen year old kid dropped 34 points against a nice ball club.

  5. well he was not held back for sports he was strickly held back because of his age, his parents did not want him to graduate at 17. who wants to send there kids away to college just barely turning 18. I know i was scared to death going out of town to college at 19 yrs old and his parents thought that the extra year would help him mature and be ready to go away for school and personally i think it is a great idea to give kids that extra year to mature both athletically and personaly for all kids.

  6. This was an enjoyable one! Hatton was unstoppable in the second half. I believe he had 6 in the first half and 28 after that. The whole Dixie squad had a really nice game and they were playing much better together. SK double teamed the Hatton kid the whole fourth quarter and o/t. Pike and Raleigh both had nice games as well. Sorrell for SK is a great ball player as well. SK ran out of steam in o/t only scoring five to Dixie's 19.

  7. I still think Dixie COULD be a strong team this year if they ever have everyone healthy at the same time.[/QUOTE]

Totally agree when Trammel gets back strong here in the next 2 weeks, he'll take over the point and with Hatton at the two gaurd. Thats a strong 1-2 punch if Trammel is healthy. :thumb:

I think Dixie will surprise some people this year!

I agree! Trammel will make a huge difference. There has been a ton of illness and injuries this season for Dixie. There has not been one game where all their intended starting five have played together. If they could all get well and be on the court at the same time, I think we would see a completely different Dixie team!

  8. The best thing Dixie can do is try to develop the underclassmen this season. They will make their run for the region next year. Hatton could be a leading scorer in the Region by next year and Pike will be a force if he can play under control and not foul so much. Trammell will be 100% next season, that will be a nice core for them. I just dont see them making a run this year.

I think you are dead on about this! Dixie should be an excellent ball team next year.

  9. I guess the question is WHERE will he be playing? Will it be at Dixie, Holmes or somewhere else maybe outside the 9th region?

Actually this is not a question for anyone to be pondering. Hatton will be at Dixie next year. This is where his family intends for him to start and finish high school.

  10. The hatton kid is 14 years old i have talked to his parents and they get this all the time. He will not turn 15 until april the 28. I don't uhnderstand why people want to try and bring down a kid because he is a hold back.I was told he was held back for the simple reason his parents didn't wast him to graduate at 17 or just turning 18 depending on the graduation date. That being said there are many many hold backs playing high school basketball across the state. The kid will be 18 his entire senior season so he is by far and old hold back. There are kids he plays aganist in aau that are in his grade and are at least a year older than he (hatton). All of that being said i hope that clears up the age question about hatton for everyone. He is in the 8th grade and putting up huge numbers aganist 16-17-18 year old kids period.
