  1. For the sake of debate, let me go ahead and be the voice from the other side.

If you make a scheduling mistake (mismatch), you have to play the game. Telling your team to go easy, or that the game will be easy, undermines your team's preparation.

When you play the game, you run your base offense and defense, and nothing more. That includes passes. It is a Friday night practice, but the repetition is just as important as a Wednesday afternoon full pad practice. You must maintain repetition and discipline to be effective.

If the lead balloons to more than 4 TD's in the first half and the other team does not appear to be scoring, the starters come out, and they cheer their teammates. When the clock starts running, the second team comes out. Empty the bench. Put a tight end at fullback and run wedge. But you run your base offense and defense, because that is your training. If the other team does not stop you, then that is the lessons of high school football. You sure as heck fall on the other team's fumble, and try to intercept their pass, and you rush your down 4 lineman and try to get the sack without stunting.

If 75 is what you get, then 75 is what you get.

Agree with this philosophy...not sure that is what is happening in these situations...

  2. Excuses? Why stir things up. Russell made mistakes. I'm. Waiting for the 27 people that talked about how Russell was gonna get killed. Name their score, blow Russell out...

Not stirring it up...just a poke in response to a post from the prediction thread...

Keep improving and the wins will come. Good luck next week against Ashland.

  3. With several very lopsided games this week:

Lawrence County 75 Shelby Vally 14

Perry Central 63 Knott County 8

Pike Central 50 Boyd County 0

How much is to much? Are the days of putting in the second or even third string players when a team is so obviously outmatched a class act from a bygone era? What are your thoughts?

  4. Notre Dame shut out Fayettville-Perry last week 33-0. They racked up 240 rushing yards and have a pretty good QB in Hannah who passed for 199 yards with ZERO interceptions. This team has a new head coach and is not the same team the Musketeers faced last year.

REMEMBER what it is like to be the underdog and really want the WIN. Don't look any farther down the road than this Saturday Night. Focus on your assignments and give 110% Give Notre Dame the same level of respect and preparation you gave Russell and Ashland and you should come out on top.

  5. One of the big differences between last year and this year is simply the time spent in the weight room during the off season. Copley started in late March of 2009 giving the Musketeers only a few months of weight lifting before the season started. This year the team had a one week break at the end of the last season and have not stopped lifting. Even though Greenup missed nearly 20 days of school due to inclement weather the weightroom was open and the boys were in attendance.

  6. Right on! We thought about using avatars with our wives breasts hanging out and listing the minutiae involved with our pregame snacks. But that gig had already been taken.

With all that aside, I hope my Devils keep it close and come out injury free. And we won't make excuses in the event we lose to Ironton.

We will hold you to that!
