I haven't seen Rowan County play. I would have been definitively saying GC until everything that is going on in Lloyd. IF, Greenup comes out focused on the task at hand, they should win this game. I agree with purefan, put last week behind you and focus on district play. In Raceland, we call the first 5 games our pre-season (getting ready for district play). Lets face it, no matter what happens between us and Ashland, GC or any of the others, it means squat in the real season. Focus on winning the district and seeding for a couple of home play off games.

The entire Oline should be healthy and back together this week. Time to put the past behind us and move forward. Get Focused Musketeers!

After Coal Grove ran the ball down our throats in their first possession of the game (6 plays, 61 yards to the endzone) I really thought this game was going to be like a runaway freight train. Greenup answered back on the next possession with a Corey Lyle TD. Coal Grove came back and scored again but failed on the 2pt conversion. The score was 13-7. AND then it stayed that way until there was less than 3 minutes left in the game.

Greenup Defense you really stepped up tonight and made some awesome stops inside the redzone in 3rd down situations. We also made to many mistakes. And in this type of game the team with fewer mistakes are going to get the win. An interception inside the redzone with under 4 minutes set up the next Coal Grove possession and the TD that sealed our fate. This was a tough loss, there were several missed opportunities, and you will only get better from this one. Keep your heads up, learn from this one and get ready for District play next week. That is when the real test will begin!

After the firing of the Middle School Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach, Bruce Hunt, I hear the grumbling of some parents that are apparently pulling their sons off the team. I have heard this from 2 sources but I am asking any GC poster to confirm or deny this.

Coal Grove is 3-1. The one loss comes from Valley (4-0) they have beaten Meigs, Athens and Trimble. They are mostly a run team and put up 413 rushing yards last week.

This will be a good game for a lot of reasons....The last time these boys played Coal Grove was their Freshman year and they made a goal line stand to win the game. Defense was key and will be an important factor this week as well. This is the last game before district play starts. It is time to gear up and play mistake free football.

Both teams are 3-1. Who gets the win and why?

This is the second straight year this game has been what high school football was all about. Absolutly as physical as you could ask for by both teams. Both left it all on the field tonight. I tip my hat to SC on a great win and am proud of the effort LC gave. We have to execute better when we get our chances but will grow from it. Really proud of both teams tonight how hard they played and the sportsmanship.

Heard from a buddy that this was one of the best games of Football he had seen in a long time.

Congrats to SC. Lawrence will learn from this and get better.

I have enjoyed reading the Raceland/Russell posts...at least when you guys are bashing each other you are leaving Greenup alone!
