  1. Sorry dude, that was Lexington Catholics JV team. It was prom night at Lexington Catholic, the varsity players went home after the Beechwood game.

Stop telling lies and making excuses. It wasn't prom night, they just got beat. Bishop Brossart was just better.

Hahahaha...no need to get so defensive.

  2. Last night in Georgetown, a wild finish took place between Scott County and Anderson County. In the top of the 9th with bases loaded and 2 outs with Anderson leading 2-1, Anderson hit a ground ball to the short stop who dropped the ball and was having a hard time retrieving it. The ss finally dove for second base while still trying to get a handle on the ball as the runner from first was sliding in to second base. The umpire immediately calls the runner out which would have ended the inning, however the coaches for AC were screaming for their players to keep running because the ss never got the ball. While diving for second the ball skipped away to the edge of the outfield grass. The umpire didn't notice it until the center fielder came in and picked up the ball to throw it home to try to get an AC runner. Upon seeing this the field umpire changes his call from out to safe. Amid the chaos and confusion the coaches from both schools came on to the field to get a ruling on the play while players from both schools were unsure if they were to go hit or play defense. The home plate umpire runs out to the field umpire to find out what his call is when the field umpire collapses to the ground. Trainers came out and the field umpire was taken out and appearantly taken to get medical care. He admitted he had a heart condition and people were fearing he was having a heart attack.

After all this the call fell on the home plate official who went with the orinal ruling of out. Scott County got two runs in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.

No word on the condition of the umpire at this time. Crazy/confusing finish to a game though.

  3. The Superintendent recently said on a local radio show that they should have went to state last year and needed a coach to lead them there. So, does that if Osborne fails in his first year he will be fired as well?

Wow!!! If the superintendent said that he is certainly putting the pressure on Happy. Pressure from the community may be on him after the way he has handled things in Montgomery County this year.

  4. With all of the changes that Montgomery has went through this past year with the changing/firing of principals and teachers due to underachieving schools, this hire makes me question what is going on over there? I don't know if Happy has ever taught high school, but if he has I know he has not done it in a long time. Is it ethical to pay him or his wife this much for basketball when the academic achievement has been low? Also, what happens if he has not won the region in 2 years? I know 2 years isn't a long time but considering how Bart Rison was ran out and how Tony Wise was let go after a year, they obviously believe they can win and do it quickly. Add in Happy's salary to the mix and you have to believe that regional championships are what is expected? Will he be dumped in 2 or 3 if he can't win?

I have no issue with Happy as coach, my concern is with the direction the administration is moving towards. Firing teachers and principals when the academics slide but then pay a coach 6 figures for basketball. I can't make sense of it.

  5. Bourbon better support who ever they get. They haven't had the talent to compete in the 10th region for quite a while. They keep letting coaches go and they will get the reputation as a place that fires coaches because they can't win enough. Anybody who knows anything about the history of the 10 region knows that Bourbon's glory years are far behind them. No matter who they get, most years they will be done after the first round of districts. They just don't have the horses.

  6. I hope that Tates Creek does get their 1st playoff win in many years this season. However, Im not sure if you are aware of who their district drew in the playoffs? That Lexington-area district of Tates Creek, Lafayette, Clark Co and Madison Central will be paired with Trinity, St X, Male and Manual in the 1st round.

  7. Yeah lets worry about the 40 runs messing up your tie breaker and not address the real issue................Sure take the 4 seed and then get beat by the number one seed in the district 40- 0.....yeah that is a great solution.

40-0 is less likely to happen in the first round of district. Runs scored or runs allowed is a tie breaker factor in regular season play, in post season all that matters is that you win so teams playing an inferior opponent will pull starters quickly and not risk injury. 40-0 blow outs may still happen, however classification will not end that either.

If you want classification, just say it. Don't say it is a way to end blow outs or puts teams on a level playing field. It doesn't do that.

  8. Classification would not end 40 to 0 beatings. Augusta is pretty much lousy at all sports but they are in the same district. Change the rules of district play, when you have a team that is that bad allow them to concede and take the 4th place spot in that district so the score of that game isn't taken into account for tie breaking purposes. No body wins in a 40-0 game.

  9. A lot of talk about Happy Osbourne taking this job, however I have a lot of trouble believing that. Secondly, if he did then he would have been offered an absurd amount of money to take it. I also question how long would he stay at MCHS if he took the job. I don't think he would stay long and if he doesn't produce regional championships then how long til you boot him? I'm not saying the job is all about winning but let's face the facts, that expectation will be there if he comes.

  10. Wow! Some of you guys have too much time on your hands. However, I think it is a safe bet that homeruns will be down and most likely so will batting averages. The biggest effect the bats will have is on marginal hitters who got a lot of bloopers, ground balls with eyes, and the big hop ball that bounces over the 3rd and 1rst basemen. They will be the ones who will struggle the most. Kids who hit line drives and hard ground balls up the middle will still hit well. More small ball will be played and teams who have problems with fielding bunts and slow rollers will be in for a long year.

  11. I def think it could help them in the longrun!!! Lafayette has ZERO seniors and hardly any varsity experience coming into this season. They still tied with Lex Cath and Tates Creek for the district championship.

As for this season, I dont understand how it can help to get beat by 50+ when you have post season starting in a week. Who knows, maybe it will?

Good luck to both teams the reast of the way!!!

Its always real nice to see the kids from neighboring counties have such success at Trinity(football and bball).
