  1. They lose 2 very good players, but they return Feltner, Fort, McKnight, Veil, and some other great young talent. Spencer will be good, conley is a special player, the other 8th grader Whitlock will have to grow a bunch, and I don't know if any other studs they have. We all have our own opinions and that is just mine. I have no interest in any team. But I have seen them all. Watch out for anderson, they have a very good frosh and Soph class and will play hard.

  2. No doubt Walker Wood should be a serious contender for the Mr. Football Award. Wanted to throw his season and career stats out for your viewing pleasure.

    2016 Senior Season:

    3,047 Pass Yards

    65% Completion Percentage

    30 Pass TD's

    1,321 Rushing Yards

    31 Rush TD's

    2013-2016 Career Stats:

    8,412 Pass Yards

    74 Pass TD's

    4,199 Rush Yards

    73 Rush TD's

    100 Receiving Yards

    1 Receiving TD

    12,711 Total Yards

    TD's

I had asked before the playoffs started if anyone knew of any other players in the career 60/60 Club. After the 5 playoff games this season, Walker is now in the career 70/70 Club. Im gonna guess there aren't many members.

Congrats to Walker on a GREAT career and Good Luck with everything in his future.

  3. Its always "Lafayette's classless trash talking and unsportsmanlike play" . Why do none of the opponents catch any of the blame? Do we honestly think they trash talk to themselves for no reason? Are they not jawing back and forth with an opponent or are they never provoked?

1st round of the playoffs, Louisville Butler WHOLE team left their sideline and came 53 yards to the Lafayette sideline for an encounter. Not 1 player left the Lafayette sideline. Im sure somehow, this was classless and unsportsmanlike by Lafayette too, correct?

Don't get me wrong, I understand that Lafayette does their fair share of trash talking, taunting and uncalled for action after the whistle. However, why does Lafayette get all the blame?

"A victory by these Generals as they now conduct themselves, sets deep mis-guided footsteps for future players to follow" is absolutely wrong in my opinion. Have you ever been around this team or these players? You will NEVER find a more classy, respectful, intelligent young man than Lafayette's best player and leader, Walker Wood.

Will Bischoff, Darwin Flores, Xavier Douglas, Quinten Brown, Matthew Guilfoil along with many more of these Generals are all examples of the type of young man I want my son to grow up and be. All of these guys are very important to the success of this football program over the last 4 years. Its unfortunate that you think these guys winning is a negative for our youth.

  4. I know there are plenty of deserving candidates for the 2016 Mr. Football Award. Walker Wood should be a frontrunner. I want to provide Walker Wood's numbers for this season. Along with very impressive #'s for his career(including a very elite club that maybe only he is a member of?).

Through 9.5 games this season(Scott Co game was called at the start of the 3rd quarter):

    -2,083 passing yards, 18 TD

    -863 rushing yards, 20 TD

    Career #'s:

    7,448 passing yards, 60 TD

    3,741 rushing yards, 64 TD

I don't know the stats of every player in the history of KHSAA football, but has there ever been another player in the 60/60 club for his career? If so, then the list of members has to be short.

Walker is a phenomenal football player, student and all-around teenager. Nothing but 1st class in all aspects of his life. Good Luck to him and his Generals the rest of this season. Look forward to a bright future at UK from this young man.

  5. How in the world in a game this close and tightly contested that, if true, Shelby didn't get blown for a single foul in the 4th quarter? I wasn't at the game so I can't say one way or the other, but man that seems almost impossible unless AC was just coming down the floor and settling for jumpers right off the bat.

Anderson did settle for quite a few threes, I will say that. However, not to find one single foul in one of the most fierce opening round games in the state? It does seem a little crazy. I thought they could have given Cummins many of ball handling fouls. This was one of the most heated games I've seen in awhile. Reminded me of the old Shelby-Anderson rivalry games. The fouls weren't the reason that Anserson got beat but it sure didn't help them out.

  6. I agree with Colonelmike. The 30th was absolutely brutal to play in this year. That was an absolute great basketball game to watch with both teams laying it all out there. Anderson surprised a lot of people this year. Interesting stat of the night - Shelby shot 29 free throws compared to Anderson's 11. Shelby shot 10 free throws in the 4th and didn't have a single could called on them.

  7. Carson Williams could quite possibly be the player of the year. However, to say that it's, "by far" is crazy. Cummins is averaging approximately 27 ppg, 6 assists, and 6 to 7 rebounds. He has to be right in the running, if not ahead, of Williams as this points. Has had games at 51, 45, 44, etc etc. Kid is a player and is making a strong case for POY.

  8. Not real sure about Franklin Co. at #4. Their strength of schedule has been, shall we say, less than difficult. I would put them at #7 and move 5-7 up one each.

I would leave Franklin at 4 if South is 6 and Anderson is 7. Neither one of those play any defense. I don't know anything about Bullitt East, they may be 30 points better than Franklin or 30 points worse. However, I think Franklin is better than both Anderson and South this year.
