  1. Bryan Hyatt at Anderson County has to also be considered as 1 of the top asst coaches in KY. Bryan has spent his entire career(at least 8-10 years) at Anderson County High School. He has been the #1 asst under Glen Drury for most of those. He has been a player and the #1 asst for multiple Anderson County teams that have been district champs and region champs. I would assume that Bryan is considered by many in that area as the Head Coach in waiting.

  2. I just know Lafayette was 3-0 in pool play and 3-0 in the tourney. That might have been but might not have been Clay Bolin also(Lafayette alternated QB's each game all day. Bolin 1 game, Fangmeyer the next). I'm not sure who played the Pikeville game.

I would say you're right that Collins defense does not normally play that way. However, they will line up 5-10 times a game in Quads on 1 side with Farris 1 on 1 on the backside. That's the exact matchup they want with that formation. The defense is forced to put safety help over top of Farris or they will throw the GO route for a TD.

  3. I'm honestly not sure you were at the same 7 on 7 tournament I was.

Lafayette was, for a fact, the 1 seed from their pool. They sneaked by Dunbar the 1st time, beat Tates Creek handily and beat Pikeville even worst(hence their center in the game running a "go route" towards the end of that game). That's the reason they played Somerset(0-3 in their pool) in the 1st round of the tourney. 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3, 3 vs. 2, 4 vs. 1 was the format used for the tournament when all teams convened at Lafayette. That's the reason Tates Creek played LCA in the 1st round(TC was the 2 seed at Laf and LCA was the 3 seed at HC).

Another thing, what system do you consider Collins to run during the regular season? They are 4-5 wide 70% of the time and throw the ball 40+ times a game.

  4. Lafayette won their pool that consisted of Lafayette, Dunbar, Tates Creek and Pikeville.

1st & 10 Passing Academy won their pool that consisted of 1st & 10, Henry Clay, LCA and Somerset.

Lafayette won the tournament with wins over Somerset, Dunbar and then LCA in the finals.

I believe Somerset was 0-3 in pool play and then lost their 1st round tournament game.

  5. Where was the umpire that called him out positioned? The reason I ask because if runners were on and the umpire who made the original call at first was positioned more behind the pitcher, then he would have a hard time seeing a pulled foot. If that is the case, the coach from team b would ask the umpire who made the call for an appeal. The umpire would then defer the call to the home plate umpire. However, if the umpire who made the original call is positioned down the first base line, then I can't fathom the reason for an appeal or reversal of the call.

Do you know what team b was arguing? (pulled foot, beat the throw,???)

  6. Woodford should be a good team with to good pitchers they will need alittle help this year should be alittle tougher then last year, looking forward to watching them play PRP this year

They will be tough to beat no question. However, they were a little bit of a surprise to come out of the 11th last season. Lex Cath and some others in the 11th are good enough to beat Woodford. The 11th is loaded every year and Woodford will have their hands full. If they can make it out of the 11th, then I think they will win the state again. More time in between games in the state so Hollon and Parrot could throw all through the state tourney. They will not be able to do that in the region tourney, 3 games in 3 days.

  7. A few questions MOJO, #1: To watch film and effectively evaluate their officiating skills, every game must be filmed with multiple cameras. One camera at the top of the stands misses a lot of the fouls and violations. Who will be responsible for providing additional equipment and camera men to view each game?

#2 Currently, a shortage of officials exist, not just in basketball but most sports, if an official is deemed as unqualified or lacking in abilities this may lead to some games being officiated with 2 instead of 3 at the varsity level. Would this mean better officiating?

#3 This would require officials to commit more time to officiating and more work to assigners to ensure that these officials are watching their videos? Many officials are calling games 6 days a week doing both girls and boys freshman, jv, and varsity games. Many of which are traveling an hour or more to get to game sites. Will their game pay be raised for the increase in extra time they would have to commit?

Officials have a tough job and too many times they receive harsh criticism merely on the basis of fans/coaches/players/ guys on bluegrass preps unwillingness to accept their team lost. I have read and heard a lot of criticism of officials on web sites, at games, and in the papers. Not once have I read a post on this web site or any other praising them when they did a good job. I have never read an article praising them in any newspaper. I have never been to a game and heard a fan stand up and cheer for the officials when they make a good call or no call.

Bad calls happen and many times good calls are criticized as being bad because they go against someone's favorite team. I'd suggest players and coaches focusing on what they can do to improve the quality of their game or team rather slamming the officials.

  8. Congrats to the kid for being the "best player on the floor" and for being "impressive". I never said he wasnt either one of those things.

Now he can go show everybody how good he is in the loser's bracket.

However, something changed at halftime. 22 or 23 in the 1st half and only 7 or 8 in the 2nd half. Not to mention his team losing a 17 point lead?

I wasnt there so I dont know all the details. What changed? Did Lafayette make adjustments and Perry not? How did the comeback happen?
