  1. Son of Bear....THE Southwestern Warriors Did not even show up at South Laurel...... They went throught the motions and got beat. BUT THEY SEEM TO BE AWAKE AGAIN ...... GO WARRIORS !!!!
  2. I Think Jones was moved to try to throw the ball. Southwestern made 2 defensive adjustments after the first drive that stopped the dive by the FB and the Clark Coaching staff tried other ways to get Jones the ball. The TE middle screen in the 3rd quarter was a great call. We read the screen but still could not tackle Jones. They are a fine team and they might even beat MC if they get that passing game going. Also The QB running around from the shotgun is tough to defend also. How many times did he get loose in the second half on scrambles and bootlegs ?
  3. As far as the KFCA meetings. The 6 class system was discussed in great detail at the Dec. meeting at the State Football Finals. There were over 190 coaches at that meeting. The same 6 class system has been discussed in great detail on the KFCA Listserve for over 8 months. The past president of the KFCA did two separate polls on the increase in classes to 6. The KFCA had another meeting in June at Centre College. This time Mr Tackett the KHSAA Assistant Commissioner over football was present to answer questions and ask for concerns or problems from the coaches. Again there was a large crowd of mostly head coaches present. So as far as listening to the coaches and their concerns, I think there has been plenty of opportunity. This is simple if you have a problem or concern you must make people aware of it to have any possiblity of change.
  4. It has been reported that a football player at practice this morning collapsed and died. Please keep this young man and his family in your prayers.
  5. No HHS Dad you don't understand.... The whole Idea of Classes is to have about equal size schools playing in the OLD System of 4 Classes. It was not happening at all. You know I heard you Watered down guys in 1975 and again when we went to 2 teams making the playoffs and then again in 1992 when we went to 4 teams from a district making the playoffs. Well it didn't water it down. Football statewide got better. 1) We have more competitive teams and districts 2) We have more schools playing football 3) We have improved the football in this state 4) It will allow more teams to make the playoffs Again this will balance the teams better and allow more teams to make the playoffs. I sure understand that a Power like Highlands likes the current system, they have been very successful in the 4 class system. But this is about all the teams in the state not just Highlands or Trinity or Dunbar. I am sorry you don't like it. But if you were at a school in an 7,8,9 team district and you had no chance of making the playoffs year in and year out..... Your program has no chance to improve. Highlands will play well in any class. They are an elite program. But what is best for the entire state. There are some negatives in anything new. There are some details that must be worked out. As far as Highlands district being poor. They will only have 3 district games that leaves 7 games to fill with the best competition they can find.
  6. Each Class has 2 division. Each Division with a State Champion. 10 State Champions. They are voting to goto 14 or 16 when they realign. :thumb:
  7. Yes the Centre College meeting does not have 100% attendance. But it is mostly Head Football Coaches. It is the Awards Dinner for the KFCA. It is one of the meetings of the KFCA each year. It is the only meeting where the coaches can have direct contact with the KHSAA Assistant Commisioner for football who comes to answer questions and concerns about football in the state. The other meeting of the KFCA is at the state championships and is very well attended. At both of these meetings the 6 Class system was discussed and explained. The 6 class system has been discused and debated for almost 9 months on the Ky Football Coaches List Serve through our email system. The idea is to get the feedback, answer questions and concerns AND to see what the Coaches across the state think about and are concerned about. There has been a lot of give and take and great discussions. The football advisory committee is just that. It advises the KHSAA of the concerns and needs of football across the state. There are representatives from every classification and area of the state on this committee. Finally the KHSAA Board of Control has representatives for all over the state and they voted 14-0 to support the change to a 6 class system. I would think that if any coach truely had major concerns he would have had the opportunity to make those concerns known and they may have done that. I really do not know. As with most change there will be some problems that must be dealt with.
  8. THANK YOU GURU This situation has been discussed for at least the last 18 months at the coaches meeting. Yes there are those that do not agree within the coaching ranks but when you look at what is best for football throughout the state..... The best solution was a 6 class system. The 5 class system was also good but the numbers did not work out dividing into 5 classes. Both systems were looked at and the Best over all was the 6 class system. This new classification / realignment has nothing to do with the Public -Private problem. This was in the works before that ever happened. and How does changing football classifications help Baseball, Volleyball, Softball, Soccer, and all the other Public-Private Problems. This was the year for realignment and when you looked at the VERY LARGE DISTRICTS and the PROBLEM with POPULATIONS within the classifications, 4-Classes just didn't work for this state. So please do not think that this reclassification is an answer or response to the Public-Private vote last year. I would say on Monday the final listings of attendance will be released by the KHSAA and you can start to see the 6 new classes and where each school fits in. Then the excitement will begin. What schools will choose to play up ? What will your new district be ? It has been a long time since there were any changes in Ky. Football. As a coach or player you have to be excited. There will always be those that do not like change 1/3 Those that are not sure but what to see how it goes 1/3 and then Those that love the excitment of the New and Different 1/3. I have read the posts on this Website for the last few months. It is funny to see the same arguments coming up. When we went to 4 Classes there were those Arguments. Too many champions , Too easy to win a Championship , Not enough teams for us to have 4-A, Watering down and weakening football, and of course the Championship doesn't mean as much. When we went to two teams making the playoffs from each district.... Again we will weaken and cheapen football in Kentucky. When we went to 4 teams making the playoffs from each district...... The same aurguments. Why not let everyone into the playoffs ? It will ruin Football. Well each time Football in this state has improved. More teams become competitive, More new teams start playing football, More excitment, Better Football in Kentucky. Now we will have more teams making the playoffs. We will crown 2 more champions. I like what Coach Perry Thomas said in the paper this week. If we win a state championship I will be proud to wear that ring. Remember this is about the Student-athletes in Kentucky. There are 9 other states that crown 4 or less Football Champions and there are 41 states that crown more than 4 State champions. The idea of Classification is to level the playing field so that you are competing with schools of like populations. With our 4 Class system we had schools with 75- 100% more boys than schools in the same classification. So if classification is to work we must have a way to level the field. In the past 2.5 years we looked at 3 classes with 2 divisions in each class (6 champions) WE looked at 4 classes with 2 divisions each (8 champions) 5 classes, 6 classes, redistricting and the best system numbers wise was 6 classes. Is it best for every school NO ! Is it best for Football ? We sure think so. Either way we are going to try it. :dancingpa
  9. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GOAL POST. YOU CAN BUY PVC PIPE AND PAINT IT TO MATCH YOUR GOAL POST AND SLIDE IT OVER YOUR CURRENT GOAL POST. YOU CAN DOUBLE THE LENGTH OF YOUR CURRENT GOAL POST. IT IS A SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE WAY TO MAKE YOUR GOAL POST TALLER. YOU MAY NEED A LIFT TO SLIDE THE PVC PIPE OVER YOUR CURRENT POST. THEY ARE NOT HEAVY . IT WILL TAKE A GOOD UNDERCOAT AND A COUPLE OF COATS TO PAINT THE GOAL POST. JUST A THOUGHT

  11. Many schools in Ohio are Pay to Play Schools and now the reason is clear. Most schools in Kentucky the Athletic Department must be self sufficient and in most schools Football carries the load as far as gate receipts. Yes Playoffs are important to those Athletic Budgets. The KHSAA has the money to investigate and should do so.
