  1. I was refering to Josh Freidel, the older one. Dewey is the younger one but I haven't seen him play much over the years.
  2. Friedel used to be a very good pitcher when I saw him a few years ago. Does he not pitch anymore? Clarkson used to pitch as well but I think he had constant arm trouble and probably gave it up.
  3. I like the rack but the deer face itself does look fairly ugly. The face looks very thin unless it is just the way the picture is taken. Nice buck though.
  4. I would love to see a picture of the double drop as well. I own approx. 45 acres and try to "manage" the bucks to let them grow bigger but it is hard when the neighbors shoot a small buck just to say they got one. I won't shoot a buck unless it is 140 plus and then those are the ones I get mounted. I have food plots and let my land "brush" grow as to give them cover, which is the best thing to do. I have a 167 class 11 point as my best and saw one this year that would go about 150 but couldn't get a clean shot. It was after modern gun season, which is the only time my neighbors hunt, so he should be there next year if I don't see him in bow range.
  5. I agree that it is all about the kids. I think this would give more kids a chance to experience a "journey" regardless if they win a trophy or not. Baseball is the sport that gives the underdog the best chance. The best team on paper may hit the heck out of the ball but if it is hit to someone.... well, that's why the game is great.
  6. You make good points with the different size schools that have been successful. But, these are High School kids and I think it would be great to have as many kids, within reason, experience a chance at a State Championship.
  7. My love of the game, luckily, has transferred to my son and we have a deal that we toss or hit anytime it is 40 degrees or better. So, the last two days we have been active, even in December. It's been great to get started again and can't wait until spring. He prefers anytime over 30 degrees, but I'm getting too old to enjoy it when it's that cold!!!
  8. Clarksons first name is Leiff (SP?). I've seen him play over the years and is very solid all the way around. He made the KY Colonels U16 team as well.
  9. Game was much closer than the score. Boone capitalized on 4 straight turnovers to end the third and take a 2 point lead to the fourth. Boone coach did a great job switching to a small and quick line-up to start the fourth and Conner couldn't handle the press and collapsed. Number 23 for Conner (I think Lang), had a rough night handling the ball. Conner had 19 turnovers to 11 for Boone. Conner Sophomore Robinson had a very good night with 11 points, several rebounds, blocks and no more than one or two of the turnovers. Conner works on handling the press and they will be a tough out come tourny time. Boone is deep and shares the ball well.
  10. After that missed completion by Hazard I thought the announcer was going to have a heart attack... Very sad to not have non biased announcers.
  11. Great post and I agree with every word.:thumb:
  12. I haven't seen a box score yet. How many different players scored for Ryle?
  13. Great game Conner. Congrats.. I think Cov Cath has Ryle and then Highlands this weekend. Could they start 0-5!!!
  14. I, along with you, probably have not seen even half of the Freshman players that will be playing this year so it would be hard to say if he is top 10 or whatever. Freshman are hard to judge until you see them.
  15. I have seen Ben Maile play and while he is not the level of his brother, not many are. IMO, he is stronger with more power than Luke at this stage, but very slow-footed. IMO he needs improvement on defense but can pitch very well and can hit a ball a mile!!! I would still list him as a Freshman to watch.
  16. I believe Boone County Middle Schools used to be in the same "league" as Kenton County Middle Schools but separated last year because some of these players were being held back for "athletic" reasons. I believe Summit View was the reason but did not remember the players name for sure, but I thought it was McClendon. I know it should be in a different thread but match ages and then compare skills.
  17. His younger brother is a Freshman but I heard he broke his leg during football and not sure of the recovery time. We played summer ball against him and he is a big hitter and very good pitcher. He has a different body "type" than Luke, more power but less speed than Luke at this stage.
  18. From the people I talked to, Bertke doesn't even hit 80 but is very good with his off speed pitches, and the name of the game for a pitcher is to keep the hitters off balance.
  19. The quote regarding the education was simply meant that it is not necessarily the school you go to for education, but the kids ability to learn, parent involvement in their kids school work, etc... I'm sure Cov Cath has great teachers, as other schools do, but that doesn't mean the kid will succeed just because he went there.
  20. I should show my son this thread so he has a better understanding of high school sports and why I'm not spending thousand's of dollars to send him there..... I know there will be a response about the education being so much better than public schools... but I know a lot of successful people that went to public schools and a lot of not so successful going to Cov Cath, etc.. I know this type of stuff goes on in nearly every high school but would not dare to believe it is as bad as this program right now. Parents and "supporters" need to take their concerns "privately" to the administration and if they don't get the answer they want..... quit supporting the school. I told my son it is a better feeling to beat a school like Cov Cath than to get into a "click" like them.... yes, cov Cath will beat most schools 9 out of 10 times, but the one time is sooooo worth it.
  21. I figured they may have moved him to lead off to get him as many at bats as possible to showcase for colleges, although it doesn't necessarily improve his RBI numbers, etc..
  22. Do you think Maile will be moved to the middle of the line-up this year? I never agreed putting your best hitter in the lead off spot, but the Cov Cath coach has coached longer than I've been alive so I'm sure he had his reasons. Now that he has comitted to UK I wonder if he moves back to the middle. Any thoughts?
  23. Is Carroll County in the 8th Region? If so, I saw David Craig (DC) play with the Kentucky Colonels and looked pretty solid.
