Iroquois 67 Manual 66
passtheball replied to passtheball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Just use your notes from the DeSales' game. That'll be all you need. X wins by double digits. -
I agree. No Samsel, then Manual has no shot at this game.
-
St. X is in the driver's seat in this one. You won't need any gimmick defenses then. Play'em straight up. You got this one.

Jenkins was 50% that game. He didn't even play the next game due to the injury. He was his old self against Iroquois, but you missed that game since you were busy at your own game that night. Jenkins missed nearly 20 games, and has only practiced full speed about 3 times in the past 6 weeks. Keep discounting him and Manual. You got this game won.

Whether Samsel plays or not, Manual has very capable guards in Bond and Bell that will get the job done. With Jenkins nearing full strength I think St X has some serious match up problems. How do you stop Jenkins? Aleks N will neutralize Gunter. St X's best chance is that they must shoot lights out in order to win. I think they shot the ball very well the last time they played each other and still lost. It will be a fun game to watch.

X will be ready to play. Maybe they do have the edge.

Jenkins didn't have to go 24+ minutes the first game. He did his damage in 19 minutes with 23. It'll be interesting now that he's over 90% and has a week to condition after going 27 minutes against Iroquois. I agree, Samsel makes it go and is the best point.

We had this discussion at the King of the Bluegrass. Penny is effective in the paint as a power forward. Not much of a guard or wing without shooting range, handles, and passing skills. He's strong in the post and very crafty and does get his share of putbacks. Anderson County does a great job of utilizing his inside game. Nothing wrong with that.

What type of defense will St. X employ this time around?
-
He's finally getting his groove back. He's about 90% and says he's focused on conditioning. Played his first complete game other than St. X without pain. Went for 28 on 5 of 8 3's, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals and looked explosive at times even while boxed and chased. He's getting there. He picked a good time for a great game with Oklahoma State having a recruiter in the house.

Dunks are worth 2 points, but they bring energy to a team, especially at the high school level. Dunks also shows a players ability to play above the rim which is a sign that they are athletic enough for DII and DI levels. I can't think of a higher percentage shot than when the ball is forced through the rim.

Uncertain to why he didn't play. I know he was battling the flu over the weekend. Manual vs St X should be a good one. Any changes to your game plan? -

Manual led for most of the game including a 6-point lead at half. Jenkins back again after sitting the DeSales game to continue his improvement and get fully recovered for tourney. Jenkins had a sensational first half going for 18 points and aiding Manual to a lead. However, Iroquois goes to a box-and-one and employed a chaser on Jenkins to slow him in 2nd half. Iroquois takes the lead with a minute to play before Jenkins nails a fadeaway from 10-feet over Gibbs where Jenkins was knocked to the floor yet no foul called. Manual fouls with 4 seconds left, Iroquois hits 1 free throw for a single point lead. Manual draws a play and Bond misses a floater from 3 feet to give Iroquois the win on their home court. Jenkins finished with 29 pts (5 of 8 from 3s), 7 rebs, 5 steals, 4 assists, with 1 turnover. Hopefully he's even closer to 100% for district. Manual was without the services of its top point guard Samsel. -
Final.

I heard that they were being disciplined for some reason. Coach got his point across and they still got the win. It's all good!:ylsuper:
