westsider, Please re-read my above post. I was in A-Town during the Mayo era and from both views...yeah, Rose Hill got played like a fiddle, but those kids were played first! I didn't feel bad one bit when my brother's friends left cause at that time, it was for the best. This is why I ask for PURE HEARTS and the BEST OF INTENTIONS when you HIRE a coach and TALK TO KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS about attending. They end up getting the brunt if hearts aren't pure. They are learning and shaping habits and values to be carried throughout life. Adults should hold this in high reguard when considering the best way to proceed.

I am and have been a Christian since before middle school. I even considered going to Rose Hill when I moved in. Some of you also know who my family is and know that my brother played AAU with OJ, Micheal, and Bill. So it's fair to say that I have a well rounded view. However, from a Christian stand point as well as a Coach's daughter's view...one does wonder how far Rose Hill will go for a top notch program. I realize winning seasons bring much needed money as well as prospective students, but PLEASE ASK YOURSELVES where you heart is when you go to HIRE a coach or TALK TO A KID AND HIS PARENTS about attending. I am IN NO WAY saying that a talented kid can't have a heart for Christ. (Cause if that's true, then I have no clue why my brother YEARNS for God's word. He even went to Union College in Southern, Ky so he could grow stronger in his walk with Christ!) What I am saying though, is to BE CAREFUL. THESE ARE YOUNG, MOLDABLE HEARTS. Please make sure your intentions are pure of heart because the ones who will be hurt the most (if not) WILL BE THE BOYS. These (high school) years are very important in how their habits and values are shaped and carried throughout life! I wish you the best of luck in finding a coach that will fit your school's needs. I wish the players (now and future) the best in their walk with Christ. May you all grow to have a deeper relationship with the ULTIMATE COACH of our lives. A word to the wise... rent and watch or re-watch "Facing the Giants." It's a wonderful movie that might help to put things in perspective. I know it did for me.

:dancingpa Yep! That's how A-Town held it down the two years they went back to back. It's a sweet, sweet feeling watching those young men leave for Rupp. No one wants to do anything the rest of the day! But, hey, you make it there, then you deserve it. The kids at A-Town were STUDENT athletes and 90% of these kids usually are. So hey, when you bust your hump in the classroom AND on the court....yeah, you deserve to be sent in STYLE!:dancingpa

This would be Bradley's chance to "cross over" again if he wanted to take it. I know he had it rough the first few years he coached girls. Lord knows I'm one to talk, but guys are a little easier to coach. I think he would consider it if he's had the same emotional battles he had his first years as a girls coach. OTHERWISE, he's a sly guy who knows how to play the game off the court and knows that he could be at A-Town as long as he wants if he plays the right hand. He's a smart cookie when it comes to this sort of thing so he'll do what's in his best interest after he's considered all his options. Please keep in mind: COACHES AREN'T ALWAYS AS DUMB AS WHAT THE PUBLIC THINKS. THIS TOO IS A HEAD GAME MOST ARE WELL VERSED IN.

Hey guys, I just wanted to thank you all for your wonderful comments about Coach. I realize this is a mind wondering thing...Coach retiring. It's kind of like the time he sold his truck, "Ole Blue". I thought he'd get rid of me (I'd be married) before he sold that truck! Well guys, truth be told, he loved each one of you heart and soul. But, as he said, "it's time he starts thinking of someone else." Basketball will always have a special place in his heart and so will you, but his little granddaughter deserves him for a while too. Watching him turn you (or some of you) from mouthy boys to honorable men of character in three or four short years was my favorite part. Many of you became my "adopted brothers". I loved being in a crowd and someone asking me how many siblings I had. To see their eyes get big when I often said "20 or so..." was awesome. some learned to ask me how many biological brothers I had instead. Aww...And my guys from Pineville. You have a very special place in my heart. (not that I don't love the rest of you...) You all taught me the difference between southern guys and northern guys. You taught me to EXPECT to be treated like a lady. You taught me that being told I can't do something, doesn't mean I won't be able to do it later if I'm determined and have enough heart. You taught me that scars don't always matter to guys and that it's okay to wear a two piece that shows my heart surgery scars instead of hiding them under (I believe it was William that called them) "old lady swimsuits." You were there for me when I didn't want to go through with my last heart surgery. (William especially.) You taught me the meaning of family beyond biological definitions. You came and watched me play the first year after my heart surgery, even locking dad in the locker room at times the year before to just let me shot and "be normal" during a not so normal year. You taught me to be bold in my faith and not to let anyone tell me I shouldn't be just because I'm on school property. You talked to me as though my opinion mattered when I was 4 and 5 yrs younger at times. All of you (from every school) mean a great deal to me. I will miss the games but reunions will be sweet! Please don't hesitate to call. You are and always will be family. Coach still talks about a lot of you. Be it when a lesson needs taught or in random conversation. Yeah, they did have several days. He was one of Carrollton's home grown. His jersey was retired there and Madison attaches a picture and prints the story as is? Just saying....
