Great Job by NKY Teams at The Meet of Champions in Lexington today. The races were run togehter than split by class afterwords. Real strong showing by Conner boys and Highlands girls along with Walton girls. Great competition with at least a couple hundred runners in each race. Great tune up for Region and State.

Wanted to look at recent seasons and see how they stack up. Using the Grant Co. Invitational as a meet that was non classified. 3 out of the past 5 years Conner was the Varsity Boys Team Champ. The other 2 years Brossart was The Varsity Team Champ. Just one meet but IMO speaks volumes, Youve picked a good year to sit on the high horse.

Not saying they have not... no offense, but have been years where A schools matched up favorably. Been around the sport since the mid 80s but primarily small schools.

Youre Right it doesnt, but it is sure nice to be talking about CC. My daughter runs on the Varsity Team at Dayton. But she is only in the sixth grade so not eligible to run Varsity Region or State. But as far as holding weight, I think tou just picked a good year to compare Conner with the small schools. Dont have stats in front of me to verify, but I would like to think that their have been years where A schools could have matched up with any Big in the Region.

Small schools , less students to choose from, then to see the numbers these teams continue to send to the line at each meet. Amazing if you aske me, I could read any thing that people would write about these teams. The likes of Brossart and St. Henry do not shy away from the Big teams during the regular season so dont knock them for their accomplishments when it comes time to run the post season events.

The line that rings the loudest is the one about playing with kids they grew up with. After the better kids leave for higher ground, whats left for these teams is a brotherhood that deserves all the success their hard work brings.

Thats the plan. Like they were saying before about making your own breaks. If Dayton doesnt do that it will be a long night.

Zach Deaton at Dayton does a fine job. Kids work hard, in both the weight room and the class room. Hopefully he gets another cycle of talent like last years seniors. IMO could get a better gig if he so desired.

Spring football, it just seems that they are trying so hard to improve in one sport, that they are killing another to do it. Kids that used to be 3 sport athletes are now specializing, and the hot sport now is football. Real frustrating as a GreenDevil alum to see Bellevue having their success knowing that most of these kids played together in Knothole for the Bellevue Vets teams.

Eastin from Dayton and a few of the Newport sophs. Eastin would be high on the Small school list.
