Mets Fan Throws Beer On Philly
JokersWild24 replied to JokersWild24's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Maybe assault or harassment, depending on the circumstances. Biggest issue here is that a ticket is kind of like a contract to abide by the stadium's rules and not interfere with play... which throwing a beer on a player would clearly be. -
If firefighters had to do their job like police officers
JokersWild24 replied to theguru's topic in BGP Break Room
Seems like a good cop would have known about exigent circumstances and would probably understand what he could and couldn't get away with in making his reports, even if it wasn't the 100% truth. No oversimplifications in the above at all. It's the all the red tape everyone else puts out there that makes the job so hard. Probably shouldn't even have to ask for a warrant, file a report, or testify with as hard as that makes it come off. Wouldn't that be great? -
Nice. Where'd you catch it?

The Sopranos (No Spoilers)

It just seems really, really predictable in a lot of ways. No suspense. -
Cleveland Browns New uniforms
JokersWild24 replied to uk#1fan's topic in National Football League (NFL)
Are these the same as the ones that were put on shelves at a mall in Cleveland then quickly pulled the other day? -
Have just watched through Season 3 and think it's been underwhelming. Do things pick up?

Thabo released a statement today. Already an IA investigation and the police officers have got representation. They'll probably need it. There are two videos released, and I don't think the video linked here shows him being struck with a baton, but there's still a question of how his leg ends up broken and why it went untreated overnight (especially considering it'd need to be set, etc.).

Know what you are saying, but I'd imagine that the biggest issue is the misappropriation of federal funding. I don't agree with the standardized testing being the end-all, be-all measure of student progress and what a school is actually teaching, but there's a better answer than this. Without reading the article, I think there's a good piece on things like this in Freakonomics.

Parents in trouble again for letting kids walk alone
JokersWild24 replied to HOMELESS CAMEL's topic in Controversial Issues
So much depends on the neighborhood they are in. If you are in a place that might as well be a gated community, you are probably fine. IIRC, the first incident occurred when another parent called them in. If you are in the type of neighborhood where people are calling in things like that and the police are responding immediately, it tells me that they are probably in a pretty safe place. -
As far as I know, yes.

Why is Charles Matthews, Jr. sliding down rankings lists and getting such little mention in UK recruiting rundowns? I haven't been following recruiting closely, but is this a case where a guy committed early and some of the hype around him died, at least to the extent that it'd explain some of this?

So you've watched the tapes of the shootings and think there's a chance they walk on them? Interesting. I'm also thinking Thabo didn't break his own leg and decline treatment just to frame the police. -

Call it what you want. There's video of two homicides and a healthy NBA player left police custody with a broken leg that went untreated and now has the NBAPA, which usually stays out of things like that, is firmly behind him. Making excuses for what happened in those instances is just as insulting to the police who do their job correctly as anything I can say, IMO. -

I think I said something to the effect of "the news broke this week". -

Just watched the video. Adrenaline is running high, but I'm going to venture a guess that the guy who said that isn't one of the thousands of officers who does his job the right way.
