  1. From a pretty reliable source as well...Not true!
  2. Once St. Henry lost their talented senior class...he left. He walked in to a loaded LC team with a lot of talent. The last of that talent (Novosel - ND & Green - UTEP) is graduating and the LC pipeline doesn't look promising...so he left. If LC is not dominating and competing for championships the drive to Lexington probably feels even longer. HC got a good coach...just keep the pipeline of talent full.
  3. The competition they play night-in & night-out is a huge factor. If some of the selected players were playing on less talented teams, playing lesser competition, and were the main "go-to" player every game...their statistics would no doubt increase "big-time". Sometimes statistics are overrated because a player brings so much to the table that cannot be measured on paper. There are 100's of stories, but I know a player across the bridge that just committed to a solid mid-major D1 college as a junior. She averages 4pts and 2 assists per game. I'm sure she is happy no one is judging her performance based on statistics.
  4. They weren't excluded. I'm not sure about Hodges, but I do know Behrens has already played in one all star game. Both rosters are pretty watered down, but Ohio is "very" watered down...IMO
  5. I think the NCAA only allows player's to compete in two all star events. Since several played in the east/west all star game at BG and several will play in the KY all star game versus Indy...they have to be selective.

  7. I heard she is not interested in being a head coach again. She was certainly ran out of Conner, but I'm not sure it was by the Boone Co School system.
  8. I'm curious to know if/how Ryle, Boone, and Conner will be impacted by the re-districting. Conner is losing 650+, Ryle 150+, and Boone 50+ students to Cooper. Anyone have a clue?
  9. The Ryle Principal that prematurely passed away last year.
  10. IBALL - Cooty said Allison is a college prospect. For most, that would be a huge compliment. There is too much stock placed on "D1". Many kids would rather be an impact player at another level as opposed to a contributor at the D1 level. Just look at the D1 transfers and D1 prospects that are now at NKU and TM. It should speak volumes to local player's that look for the "greener grass".
  11. A lot changes from one season to the next so the landscape may change. I wonder how many, if any, players from Conner were impacted by the redistricting to Cooper. From what I understand, Cooper will pull 600 or so students from Conner, 1-200 from Ryle, and 50+ from BC. Perhaps this should be a different topic...
  12. JC had them down early, but it was no contest. JC will have to bring their "A" game while E-town brings their "B".
  13. Hamilton Joe is dead-on. Ludlow was prepared with a great game plan to shutdown Behrens. Also, after penetrating so easily for lay-ups in the second qtr...Bradley was shutdown in the second half. It's not often those two look completely baffled. Sparrow did a great job stepping up and hopefully she can do the same against a great NDA team. I like Boone's chances in a barn burner.
  14. Thank goodness the Boone players realize they have to play a great (hot) NDA team before any other talk.
  15. Conner by double-digits. I believe they may have taken HC a little lightly a couple of weeks ago so they will be prepared for a battle this time around. No matter which two teams move on to Saturday...they will have tough back-to-back games and will have earned a trip to BG. This would probably favor NDA somewhat since they go so deep off their bench, but athletes tend to dig deep when it's all on the line. Should be a fun evening of hoops.
  16. Of course NCC should have been playing this game; however, this is what their district chooses to do. Your comments are a little bit harsh, but so-be-it. Dayton was certainly over-matched, but the kids didn't seem to quit nor did they seem embarrassed. Remember, they didn't choose the blind-draw...they just came to play. Both games last night were played to conserve energy, avoid injury, and get out with a win. Friday should be two pretty intense battles.
  17. Powell 67 Leslie 63...according to the scoreboard.
  18. Ciera Ricketts of Fairdale to Arkansas Raechele Gray of Shelby County to Marshall Christina Weaver of Holmes to UNC at Greensboro Whitney Hanley of Bullitt East to Austin Peay Lauren Jones of South Oldham to Austin Peay Chantelle Pressley of Dunbar to Eastern Illinois Samantha Sheeran of Central Hardin to Bellarmine Danielle Woodmore of Manual to Ohio University Kayla Moses of Scott County to Dayton Kelleshia Cook of Franklin Simpson to Tennessee Tech De’ Sarae Chambers of Mason County to Dayton Kylie Brady of Central Hardin to Bellarmine Samantha Drake of Nelson County to Kentucky (Class of 2010) Tacarra Hayes of Marion County to Tennessee Tech Tia Gibbs of Louisville Butler to Vanderbilt Brittany Wilson of Manual to Dayton Natalie Novosel of Lexington Catholic to Notre Dame Janae Howard of Owensboro to Louisville Gwen Rucker of Henry Clay to Louisville (basketball & volleyball) Monique Reid of Fern Creek to Louisville Jade Barber of Louisville Ballard to Ball State Rikaya Gatlin of Christian County to Miami (Fla.) Sorry paNDA...took a short cut, but there are many more
  19. BS - It is hard to believe you just moved into the area with so much negative and hard feelings. Those kind of feelings usually take a little longer to develop. You said "Major" D1...there is a difference so be clear. Several have played D1. Others could have played D1, but for various reasons choose D2, D3, NAIA, or decide not to play at all. There is too much emphasis put on playing D1. I can tell you the only senior 2yrs ago received a scholly, all 4 seniors last year received full-rides (3 for hoops), and this years only senior just accepted a full-ride for hoops. I'm not real up-to-date, but I'm pretty sure there are at least 7 "currently" playing somewhere at the next level. Not too bad. It looks like Boone may finally be passing the torch to Conner & Ryle in the 33rd...enjoy the ride, but please be humble! I agree, we fell for the bait and got off topic. I think Conner will get the win tonight and might want to be careful and not overlook HC...NDA & BC is a complete toss-up, but of course I'll take the Rebels.
  20. Lincoln Memorial (Tn), Ashland University (Ohio)...at least two others. Also, Coach Fookes' was quoted in the paper that "a couple of smaller D1 schools were in the mix". They may have been too far away. Not sure.
  21. BS - transfers get hashed out on here during the pre-season "every" year so you might be new. Take a look at rosters throughout NKY and the state to make sure you have a clear picture before picking and choosing who to bash. Two other Conner transfers will be playing against them tonight. You are in for a huge let down if you are basing success on "Major" D1 Bball since there is a "very" small handful in the entire state year-in and year-out. You sure are passionate (bitter) for someone new to the area...gees
  22. Boone County senior forward Katie Behrens has committed to Kentucky Wesleyan, her coach Nell Fookes stated in an e-mail today. Heading into this week's Ninth Region Tournament, Behrens is averaging 17.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, two assists and two steals per game for the Lady Rebels. Behrens has also been named the KABC Ninth Region player of the year and will try out for the Kentucky All-Star Team in April. Congrat's Katie...you have shown tremendous leadership through a lot of adversity.
  23. I wasn't aware that Long moved to PG, but it sounds like you know.
  24. BS - your motive is obvious...it's extremely tough to compete with the Lexington and Louisville programs for many reasons. Go on the girl's scoreboard and pull up past years. You will see that BC schedules brutal every year and dodges no one. They lost 6 of their top 8 players from last year including two potential D1 post players (6'2" & 6'3"). Her roster includes 10 soph's & Fresh and only 2 player's with major varsity minutes. She could have opted out, but still competed in the LexCath Christmas tournament. They went 3-1 only losing to Sacred Heart by 1pt on a last second shot. In Nov, she decided to have a one day event as a fundraiser for a local family. She made calls to Dunbar, Manual, Fern Creek, Madison Central, and they all immediately accepted. That's respect! So you are aware, LexCath begged her for weeks to take their vacant HC job. She finally told them that she is loyal to the BC program and a state championship at another program at this point in her career would be hollow. She recommended their current coach and he got the job. That's respect! By looking at your previous posts you appear to be a Ryle fan. Since you are new you may not be aware, but Coach Fookes brought Coach Olivero with her to Boone...out of loyalty! At Christmas, the player's presented a check (a large portion of their fundraising money) to a former player with breast cancer...that's loyalty! These examples are why parents love being part of her program and can overlook that sideline antics...they know! With this roster, she has probably done the best coaching job of her career, but she will be overlooked as COY. Behrens has played phenomenal this season, but I bet she gets overlooked as POY. All because of the expectation's every year. You may not like Coach Fookes' style or her success, but what she has done for Girl's Bball has earned respect.
