He looks to be the only one who can throw it inside. Their turnovers and missed shots are not a result of him being outside

How many shots did the guards get wide open against Pineville? The times I have seen him down there, the guards don't get him the ball.

Oh yeah, when South dismantled Corbin I read IMO a lot of excuses also. Like you said Les, it is up for grabs and I love it.

Excuses? Those were truths. The team to watch is Jackson County, big, strong and athletic. Obviously, Coach P and Coach Wright know what it takes to win the region, so Corbin and South should be the teams to beat. What other coaches have won the 13th Region?

They aren't as good YET. They obviously have room for improvement which is not a bad thing. I would guess they are going to lose a few more, but I would not count them out. As long as they play defense the way they do, they will always have chance. Even if their point guard has a horrible shooting night, or their leading scorer plays less than 3 quarters because of foul trouble, or they commit 20 turnovers against a zone, or they miss free throws down the stretch, or because of their coaching and coaching strategy, and last but not least, even if the refs has ties with the opponents county, city, school, or coach. They will be hard to beat if they can fix a couple of those things, ya think? Love the posts this week Les, can't wait until the next rankings , maybe Cumberland will drop out of the top 10. Lol.....

Cumberland loses to Hazard and Pineville and that makes them overated. Interesting point. I wish that more credit would be given to Hazard and Pineville, and less bashing of Cumberland. Sounds like people have personal issues with Cumberland.

What strategy?

Pineville deserved the victory, there is no doubt about that. Pineville probably would have won that game no matter who the refs was because they were the better team that night. But I'm not naive enough to believe that they can't be biased with their calls. Are you sure that there were no ties to Pineville? Congrats Lions. Represent the 13th Region well in Richmond.

Just take a good look at who the refs were during the Pineville and Cumberland game. Now a loss is a loss, but Cumberland will be just fine. The regional tournament will be with another regions refs.

If it were being done for the kids then the obvious choice would be classes. If it is done for money and tradition, then let it stay the way it is.

I don't think kids would feel any less about their state championship if it were classes. It would also help with basketball overall because, kids who know they don't have a shot to make the Sweet 16 would have a reason to work. You would see a big difference in overall talent in the state. There are some real good players out there that should be seen, but will not because of the way it is setup. But, having said all of that, I understand that it works the way it is.

I think the great thing about this season is that the regional tourny will be one of the best in a while. Rankings will probably change 3 or more times before it is over. I think you do a good job with your rankings.

I think that Jackson, Knox or Pineville is deserving.

The 3 point shot has ruined a lot of good young basketball players.

Les would you rank SL first now? Or was this a fluke? Coach Wright obviously had his team ready to play. I'm sure Coach P did to but, sometimes kids will be kids.

I'm a Cumberland fan as you can tell by reading my post, I now live in Bell County though, and it seems to me their not clicking yet. Would love to see them get back to Richmond. Would be nice if my post could fire them up.

Who you got? I got Pineville and Lynn Camp in a rematch of a couple weeks ago. With Pineville making it to Richmond. After hearing about the Cumberland & Harlan game I have to go with Pineville.

Cumberland seems to be weak at the guard position. I watched them on WYMT and thought their guards turned the ball over to much. You need guards who can take care of the ball when you play in tight games. They will need their defense if they are going back to Richmond this year. I still think they can win the region, but Wilson and Johnson had better play well.

I heard Cumberland struggled last night against Harlan. You might be right Les about Cumberland. You could put Knox Cenral, Jackson County and Pineville in front of them and not be wrong.

Pineville has Red Bird, possibly Middlesboro, possibly Cumberland, Knox Central, Corbin, and Clay County coming up. They will get their chance to show they belong in the top 4. If they can win the All A region that would definitely boost their ranking. Right Les?

Les you are awfully hard on the Redskins. Pikeville is in the moutain top 10, Knott was on the road. Hazard is one of the best teams in the mountains. Bell County was getting a lot of praise, and Cumberland handled them. You put them at 2, but with a negative spin. I guess that comes with being close to the top.
