  1. Walmart has nice deals on brand name TV's. I would go with the 1080P but the 720P will save you 2-300 bucks.

A HHGregg salesman told me just to get the 720, that's what he got for himself. He said there is little or none as far as 1080 broadcast signals in Louisville. He didn't expect them for years, even after the February chang over. He said all the TV's in their store are using a 720 signal, even on the 1080 TV's. The only exceptions was if I wanted to use it for gaming, which I do not.

I'm using an antenna, so I'm thrilled I will be getting triple the channels I have now, when I finally pull the trigger.

While I was there, another customer told me he was watching his LCD for months thinking he had hi def, only to realize that he didn't even have a hi def signal coming into his house. He said his pic was that good, hi def or not.

  2. He may be an unrepentent terrorist, but I'm not sure he still hates his country.

As of 2001, he stated they didn't go far enough when they attacked us, so that sounds like he hates us, IMO.

His case was thrown out due to prosecutor error, but his wife's case was not thrown out, and she was sent to prison, on basically the same evidence. Ayers is an innocent as OJ.

  3. I guess we'll all just see how this plays out for the next 4/8 years with Obama. I voted for him in the primary, and was onboard because he seemed like a positive choice. But then I looked at some details.

    1) I don't know what he stands for, other than "change". He's been very vague.

    2) I never trust the one with the most money, for those "debts" must somehow be repaid. I was sorely disappointed when he broke his vow of public financing.

    3) He doesn't have the money to do what he wants, which means he's getting it from me somehow, likely taxes.

    4) I don't like all the shady characters in his life, some he still has contact with today. He doesn't give legit answers to questions about this subject, and even accuses detractors of dirty politics, even if they just quote his own words.

    5) He played the "race card" in a pre-emptive strike, kinda sleezy.

    6) Look at his senate elections, lots of lawsuits against his opponents, shenanigans etc there.

    7) The media is so biased I jus don't know what they are hiding. Where can yu fins the truth if the news suppresses it.

    8) If Dems control all 3 branches, I will be very nervous. He has some radical ideas that may come out if he yields that kind of power, especially if he gets a 2nd term.

    9) What's up with his family? He has little contact with his half brother, his aunt, his paternal grandmother (who said he was born in Kenya). What's up with his bizarre family structure, and why is he ostracized by so many.

    10) Wealth redistribution. He downplays it, but look back at his views as a lawyers and a professor. That is scary. Add to that the other democrats with very extreme views, ie Barney Frank, etc. They wan't to buy out my 401K, rob the rich and give to the poor (I don't want there money unless I earn it) and bankrupt KY's coal industry. Obama's words, not mine.

There are probably many more things, but since I was an Obama supporter until a few months ago, I don't have all the negatives engrained in my memory yet. The proof will be in the pudding. I am not worried about it, which was my view with Bush. I knew he was horrible, but it took 4/8 years to show his short-comings. I suspect the same will happen here, assuming the news reports it the same way.

  4. RIDICULOUS!! The man is 150-51 as a head coach. The what have you done for me lately crowd wins again. Plus big boosters putting up money for a buy-out that will be huge.

Plus he won his division last season. But sometimes it's not just about your W-L record, it's the intangibles. Kinda like Tubby. I was content for him to stay, but after seeing the fire in the program with Billy G, I'm very glad he's gone.

  5. Some of you guys kill me, you are ecstatic one week, and gloom and doom the next. The AD said this is a re-building process, he obviously understands what is REALLY in that locker room talent wise, etc....I trust him, and will side with him in his decisions. I look for Louisville to go bowling this year, and hopefully improve upon their record into next season. That's what I want to see. Beyond that, it's a futile expectation, hoping for young in-experienced players to not go through growing pains.

Sports has come to this lately, hasn't it? I see it in the Heisman watch too, where a voter changes their opinions from one half of the game to the next. It definately happens with fans - they're either all in, or all out that week. This year I have decided not to visit my main fan boards after a loss, at least until the day before the next game. It literally depresses me to see the post that go up immediately after a loss. So, no ND boards for me for the next few days.

  6. Where in the article does it say that she is living in squalor? Also, the article does statet that he DOES know that she has been living in Boston.

I didn't read the article, and I never said it did say that. I was refering to Obama's book which I heard read on the radio, referencing his aunt. Squalor was my word and I don't recal his, but it was in the spirit of what he said.

I have no dog in this fight, per se ( I guess living in the US means I do), as I will vote for neither candidate. I just hate hypocrisy coming from ANY candidate.

  7. labs, I'm certain that you, with all your knowledge, know the problems within the program as well as anyone. For Kragthorpe, this isn't just a battle of winning on the field. This is his 2nd year. And a lot more attrition has occurred that he could have anticipated. I'll stick by him, because I believe he'll not only be successful on the field, but be successful in building an solid program internally. Maybe that doesn't mean much to most folks, but it does to me. And, for the record, it's why I preached my "Give Rich Brooks a chance" sermon over and over and over a couple of years ago.

Oh rockmom, you just don't want Krags fired because you'll lose your next great QB at Trinity! ;):D

  8. Another interesting tidbit not mentioned here so far.

Obama writes about this aunt in one of his books. They played the audio excerpt (in his own voice) on the radio. He spoke of how wonderfull she was, and that there was no system in place to help her survive. For that, she had to rely on family, and ever since we have been taking care of her. (these are paraphrased, but it was his book on tape, recorde in his own voice).

I am now shocked to see he's been living in squalor, and he didn't even know she was here. How is that taking care of her?

  9. I have basically regretted every vote I've made for POTUS, even the ones that won. I guess I expect too much from them, in terms of honesty, integrity and morals. What was I thinking?!?

What everyone sees as success, I can see as a failure. Take Reagan for example. Reagan gets credit for ending the cold war, and whether true or not, most see it that way. That was a horrible thing IMO, that led to all the rogue nations we have today. Plus, it's where their nukes came from. Did anyone die from the cold war? Sure, we had to hide under our desk occasionally, but I never for once feared WWIII. The world was safer with two superpowers than it is today with one.

I'm an old dude and I will vote Libertarian. Insanity is desribed as doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results. Isn't that pretty much how you desribe an election if you vote D or R? Yes, Obama will be change from Bush, but not change from normal, everyday politics. Having said that, McCain would be a change as well. But not enough. Look at who their biggest financial contributors are - they are basically the same. People who donate money expect something in return. Which is why voting for a party with no money doesn't bother me. I trust them more for it.

It may be idealistic, but I don't see it as throwing a vote away, as most of my family claims. What I'm doing is much harder to do than what they will do - vote the same party they have voted for their entire lives. Plus, now I won't take the blame for a lousy Presidency, no matter who wins. ;)

  10. In the past week, both the oil producing companies and the gas companies have come out and said they are breaking even at current prices?!? How is that possible? Weren't they still making billions when oil and gas were even cheaper than now? They just got spoiled making extra billions (Exxon just had their best qtr ever, again) and now don't want to go back to the old way. These people do this on the back of every American, and smile while doing so. I'm so hoping we don't get stupid again and go back to our guzzling ways.
