This is true. While the loss to NCC was rough, I believe that many don’t think about where they are in comparison to where they had been. Dayton won a combination of 4 or 5 games in the two previous seasons before this one. They are in better shape than plenty other teams.

It’s an important game for both teams for second place. I do believe this one is important for Dayton based on how they played the other night.

I agree on Skirvin being harder to bring down, he was more powerful. The offensive line back then was very athletic and physical. The OL wasn’t very big either, definitely fast. Neil Richardson was a big part of their offense on the passing game. And defensively, they were very good. The 1996 Dayton team is one of the best teams maybe ever to not win a state championship.

Dayton will face the Wildcats at Newport on Friday at 7 pm. The winner of this should have second place in their district. After last night’s game by Dayton, I truly don’t know what to think or expect. Thoughts about this game from others?

After last night, I totally agree. They may have one of their best athletes to play, but as a whole team, it isn’t close.

I’m really surprised with how close Indiana is playing Ohio State so far. It would be awesome if Indiana wins, but I didn’t see it happening.

Even with the adjustments NCC made, it should have been. While NCC obviously played and executed better with a great game plan, Dayton isn’t nearly as bad as what they showed last night. I know most, if any haven’t watched Dayton as much as I’ve gotten to this season, and I can promise that they aren’t as bad as they showed last night. Lack of motivation and playing inspired was the issue after NCC scored their last touchdown just before halftime. It was obvious and that was my biggest disappointment.

It’s easier to think that after what happened tonight for sure. I don’t know though, comparing other games can catch up. I thought Dayton had a good chance with how last week’s game went between NCC and Newport, especially considering that Newport lost to Ludlow, which was very early in the first week. It’s important to keep the one game at a time focus. Even with saying that, Dayton looked very rough tonight and that’s putting it mildly. I do believe that motivation became a big factor just before halftime.

I’m not as concerned about Dayton losing, but how they lost. First, congratulations to NCC on a very impressive win who played better and didn’t look back. I said it a few times, the difference throughout the game was line play for NCC on both sides of the ball. However, it wasn’t 47-7 better. Dayton did some good things in the first half. Defensively, they made a couple stops on drives that were important. The real dagger was the touchdown pass by NCC just before halftime. Dayton was totally flat after that and didn’t play motivated or inspired moving forward after it. Outside of what I have already mentioned, the other concern that I have was preparation for this game by Dayton. They looked lost defensively a lot of this game and NCC did nearly anything they wanted. Is what it is though. The result of tonight’s game was a result of all of this. Congratulations to NCC again on an impressive win.

It looks that way. Line play for NCC has been the difference and they have more speed too. That’s been the difference in my opinion.
