If that's the case, it will likely be a long night for the Tigers. I doubt X's run game is as good as East Central's out of Indiana and Elder shut them down.

How is X's passing game? Elder's DB's are the weak link.

Had a chance to watch the replay. My takes: 1) Elder is a really good team. 2) The Elder offense looks more dynamic than last season's version. Teams will be forced into the decision of keeping an extra man in the box to defend against the run or keeping a man back to limit long plays/help in pass coverage. 3) Elder's defense looked about the same. Their weakness is in the secondary and CovCath was able to move the ball through the air. 4) The CovCath special teams are a work in progress. Things that popped up in the scrimmage with NewCath still need corrected. 5) The Colonels battled until the end. Still unsure what the first two games of the season tell us about how the season will play out, but some nice pieces that will continue to get better as the season moves along.

If memory serves, CovCath missed a field goal wide right at the horn that would have won the 2004 game.

With RPI considerations, it means more than a number in the loss column.

I believe it was 6-0 at half and 8-0 early in the 4th. Score did balloon up to 28-0, but it was competitive for most of the game.

Elder may be better. Time will tell.

CovCath has nice pieces. Definitely a high upside, but tough to glean much from this one. Things to clean up for sure, next week will be more telling.
