The All 8th Region Team was announced earlier this week with Owen County's Gayheart and South Oldham's Whitfield sharing Player of the Year honors. The rest of the team includes:

Congrats to everyone.

Congrats to all of these young ladies for earning the respect of their opposing 8th Region coaches. I have seen all of these young ladies play and I pretty much agree with it. Really glad to see Gayheart and Whitfield share POY honors, really hard to pick one over the other. They both are the reason their teams are part of the Big Four. I noticed that McKee and Sandlin are back on after one year hiatus, I believe Dossett, Taulbee, Neeley, Stephenson, and Owings are newcomers. Also, congrats to Coach Wright, he does a great job at South Oldham. I should also mention that two young ladies that no doubt would have been included, but missed most or all of their senior season due to injury: Hannah Devine-Carroll County and Nicole Bryant-North Oldham.

Congrats to Rianna and Jasmine and all the girls on the 8th region team. Good honor for working hard during the season. But still more exciting basketball to go.

That is awesome that Gayheart and Whitfield are both POY. Both going on to play D1, both very talented and fun to watch, both so important to their team, both are up there as the pride of the 8th, and even here on BGP, they both made many divided over one deserving the award more than the other.

 

Conclusion: they both deserve it...Congratulations to Rianna and Jasmine and all the girls.
