If you are referring to the Beechwood Tigers, this is their worst season in about 7 or 8 years. This is their first loss in two years to a NKAC DIII school and only their second loss to a NKAC DIII school in the last 5 years. The last time Bellevue beat Beechwood was almost 5 years ago. This loss tells me that you can't blame this season record on stepping up to NKAC DII.

Congrats to Bellevue on the win, especially since it has been 5 years since they beat Beechwood. But I am not sure why everyone seems so surprised or calls this a nice win. Beechwood is 5-14. The game against Boone is the aberration and probably should have Boone doing a lot of self reflection. A .500 St. Henry team embarrassed Beechwood on their home court just a few nights before the Boone game. Holmes beat Beechwood by 25 points just a few games ago. The Tigers have lost 5 in a row and 6 of their last 7.

I can see that. Regardless of Beechwood's record and how they are playing, congrats are due to Bellevue.

Do yourself a favor before you put your foot any further down your own throat - look at Beechwood's record in basketball the last 6 or 7 years. Let us all know what you find. And just to help you out a little on this comment, of the 12 or so players that dress varsity, 3 play football.

Obviously, Holmes is number one by a wide margin. Number two should be rather obvious as well, Boone County. Just 2 wins behind Boone is Covington Catholic. And who is next? Well, lo and behold, it is those supposedly football focused Beechwood Tigers, just 7 wins behind Boone and 5 wins behind CCH. That's right. More wins than Newport Central Catholic. Twenty-four more wins than Holy Cross. Twenty-five more wins than Dixie Heights. Sure there are differences in schedule that helped Beechwood get so high on the wins list. But let's not be delusional and ignore the success Beechwood has experienced in basketball the past 6 or 7 years. They have been a very good basketball program. So don't try to say football gets in the way of success in basketball. It just isn't true.

 

When anyone looks at that record of success, 5 wins this year should be very disappointing.

Stats dont lie but I will ask How many Wns were Div 3 wins where they dominated? Wins aré wins and it provea the programs done Well but comparing their wins to teams That play tougher schedules may be a stretch.

I acknowledge that. I am not trying to say Beechwood is better than NewCath or Dixie or even a few other teams that have played tougher schedules. My point is football is not an excuse for this season because they have experienced a LOT of success over the past few years.

Voice, not trying to diminish Beechwoods hoops program in any way. But nobody talks about Beechwood basketball when Beechwood athletics is brought up. Football is KING (second best in the area next to Highlands), then comes baseball. And by the way, all those Basketball wins has produced 2 regional appearences, '05 & '09, both losses.
