HUGE win for the Generals over #8 Lexington Catholic.

 

Lafayette overcame Jack Whitman's game-high 35 points to beat host Lexington Catholic 63-60 in overtime. Jackson Davis had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Generals (5-9). Lexington Catholic (12-3) went 2-for-21 from three-point range.

Me too, I double checked to make sure this wasn't a girls score.

Lafayette has a lot of good athletes(non of which are seniors) on the basketball team. It has been a struggle for the coach to get them to play together as a team and understand his system but maybe that is now happening. Notice earlier in the year they lost to Tates Creek and then a few weeks later(around Christmas) they beat Tates Creek fairly handily.

Craig Floyd did not play. Lex Cath is a different team without him.

I would hate for you to give Lafayette's defense any credit for that. Sounds like to me a lot of "if's" being used and a lot of excuses being made.

I would ask why they took 21 threes if Whitman had 35. Give him the ball even more I would think would be the solution.

You would think that would make sense, but you can't force it in to him every time against a collapsing defense or it just increases your turnovers. Most of the 3's were not bad shots, they just weren't falling. No excuses--just the way it was. Believe it or not, Whitman(despite 35 points) actually struggled a bit in this game.
