The loss of of Sticklen definitely hurts Bracken, but she had a young supporting cast last year who matured over the course of last season and saw lots of varsity action. Aside from Sticklen and K. Cummins (both injured right now), the oldest players on the team are sophomores. Last year, those same players were 8th and 9th graders in the starting lineup and they won the Class A Region. Aside from Sticklen, their entire lineup returns, including their catcher and a pitcher with some varsity experience.

 

With Brossart, though most of the lineup does come back, they have two big losses in Miller and Griffith--that will be hard to replace as I'm not sure if anyone else has much varsity experience on the mound or behind the plate. One never knows, however, what tricks Mel will pull out of his big green hat though It should be an interesting season.

That was mentioned in another thread by BGH, and I quote "Pitchers will be very solid with Shackelford and Reilly along with four 8th graders". No mention of who might take over the catching duties.

I know about the Reiley girl, she pitched jv last year. Did Shackelford play for Brossart? I don't remember her?

Now I know who she is, she was preety good. That Mel always seems to end up smelling like a rose. With her and Reiley they should be fine.

I think she pitched some varsity, my opinion of what I seen of Campbell County, she should have pitched more.

Your right the Schackelford pitched some varsity but wasnt the starting pitcher for CCHS last year. From what I hear she could of been. How's that old Mel do it ? Everytime you think there done and something like this happens. Pretty impressive !

I guess good teams dont rebuild, they just reload. I know when Campbell Co and Notre Dame played last year, Notre Dame was beating CC 6 to 0 in the 2nd inning and they brought in Shackleford and CC only lost 7 to 5. 1 run in 5 innings, preety impressive for an eight grader. Dixie has a good young pitcher too dont they?
