Who will be the pre-season favorite to win this region? Mercer Co. was the State Runner-up last season and West Jessamine, Danville, and Somerset are usually in the top 25 in the Coaches Poll every year.

How much did Mercer lose off of that squad? They are always good, but will they take a step back?

Lost alot. Top two pitchers, catcher, and most of the middle of the line-up. They still have a couple pretty good pitchers. It will be interesting to see how many runs they will score.

Now that every team has been practicing for a couple of weeks how does everyone look? Any suprises?

Anyone in the 12th scrimmaged yet?

I think Boyle scrimmages today but there were rumors that it maybe cancelled because they basketball team plays in the region finals tonight.

I think Mercer will get better as the season goes on but I don't expect them to win the 12th.

The three mentioned earlier....Danville, Somerset and West Jessamine all return strong lineups don't they?

Danville returns 6 starters and all their pitching from last years team. Somerset returns alot offensively but I believe lost some pitching. West Jess. lost #1 pitcher and their catcher, but have the rest back including the Ward kid on the mound who is very good.

Somerset graduated a big senior class that had a lot of 2 or 3 year starters. They bring back some experienced players in 4 year starter C/INF Storm Wilson and P/3B Jarred Price. OF/P Andy Manning, INF/P Alex Lange and 1B/P Taylor Speaks got a lot of playing time last season as well. All 5 players will be seniors. Their pitching will be pretty deep this season. Price should be the number 1 with Lange, Manning, Speaks, Heath Ersham all being pretty even behind him. Charlie Dishman and Cody Carrender should also contribute on the mound. The batting order might not be as deep 1-9 as in the past few seasons but they should still score a lot of runs.

Pitching looked good in scrimmage yesterday against Harrison. Jar Price, Heath Ehrsam, Cody Carrender, and Andy Manning seen time on the mound. Alex Lange injured his knee in the scrimmage. I pray it is nothing serious and he will be back soon! Somerset won 6 to 4.
