Why Would Obama Veto Job Creation?

Featured Replies

The pipeline is in the budget just passed. Obama has to either approve of the go ahead or reject it and explain why. He will have to make a decision instead of sitting on the fence. Even the unions favor this pipeline, but the environmentalists are against it. Which part of his base is he going to tick off?

From what I've read what the Rs have essentially done is guarantee the project will not be completed at all because they are not giving the State Department enough time to do a review. That likely means that Congress will address it later.

Political theater.

Why would they have not completed any studies or review by now? They knew the public wanted some action on this pipeline. The only theather is the theather of incompetence by the Obama Adminstration. He just does not want to make a decision.

All environmental studies have been complete for some time now. Nebraska had some questions about one of their water systems so they changed the route of the pipeline to Nebraska's satisfaction. Obama is the main hold up on this project, period.

The State Department said they need time. Senate went ahead and required it in 60 days knowing they couldn't do it and that the President said he would not be pushed.

Theater.

Obamas state dept. had already approved the studies before Nebraska had a question as to the route.. Nebraska was satisfied. Now the state dept. needs more time to study the new route? Nearly a year for the "new study"? Pure politics holding up much needed jobs.

So we have job estimates from 2,000 to 6,500 that are most likely for two years.

The majority of the refined oil will be exported to Europe and Latin America.

There is currently excess supply Canadian crude which has resulted in discounted prices. XL will remove that excess supply and allow heavy crude prices to rise. That means higher prices at the pump. This will also result in higher costs to farmers.

They Keystone I project has had 12 spills in one year.

So tell me where you disagree. Or tell me that you agree but we still need to rush this.

There hasn't been "a rush"... The pipeline has been in the works for several years. http://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/keystonexl/

Correct. There was a report that came out. It was criticized as not being thorough. It was re-done. Now they're still reviewing it. It hasn't been quick but it should NOT be quick. It should be thorough even if it allows the POTUS to move it to post-election. This issue is much bigger than keeping voting factions happy.

I'll look forward to your response to post #52. Where do you disagree?

Of course it's political theater but please don't try to make it seem like one side is more guilty than the other. Both sides have been in campaign mode for a while.

Correct. Why do we overlook that fact? It's as old as the country is.

I answered in my last post. But again, The state dept. had ALREADY signed off on it once. Neb. had a question. They were satisfied. It took the state dept. only a few months to do their first review.. No reason it should take a year or more to re-study only a few miles of the pipeline..

Pay attention. You answered the issue of the delay.

Put the study aside. Look at post 52 which lists issues/concerns people have. Give us your thoughts.

You are incorrect if you are assuming that only Nebraska had a question. Not even close.
