The NCAA has ruled that high school basketball teams cannot compete in the "Rumble in Rupp" scrimmages Friday and Sunday in Rupp Arena, denying one of Kentucky's top targets for next season the chance to play there. The two-day event will instead be played at Lexington Christian Academy

36 Hours before the tourney, the NCAA steps in and pushes them to another locality. Doesn't seem fair to the kids and seems at the least, arbitrary.

Not just high school. Mason County and Lebanon's 7th-grade girls were slated to play for the 7th grade state championship.

Does this mean that the Boys KHSAA Sweet 16 will not be played in Rupp Arena any more?

According to the NCAA since these pre season scrimmages arent offically licensed KHSAA events and the state tournament is, it will not effect the sweet sixteen.

I don't think the Sweet 16 or regional tourneys would be affected as they would be legitimate scholastic events by the KHSAA??? I think what needs to be better defined is what is a scholastic event, which I believe is the key to the NCAA rule. I personally think the Pre-Season and Regular season games to be played at both Rupp and Yum Center was scholastic events, but I seem to be confused as to what is a Scholastic event.

These were nonscholastic because they were being run by Bleid Sports. If they were being run by the KHSAA there would be no issue.
