big and physical,Owens hit A three pointer

at the end of regulation to tie the game.

Owens had 30 points and probably had

10 assist,Casey Branham had a good game

as well.BC will play Corbin next.

Boyd Co wins 91-86 in OT as Antonio Owens hits a 3 at the buzzer at the end of regulation to tie the score. Owens ends up with 30, plus a big defensive steal at the end of the OT period to ice the game. Big games tonight also for Anthony Shannon and Casey Branham. Blanton and Moore played well also against a bigger team and Moore made a steal at the end of regulation when Hoggard threatened to go up.

Good win for the Lions against a good out of state team!! Looks as if Owens if back to his usual self!!

This was a good win for the Lions. Hoggard was big and good. They had a point guard that was equivalent to Owens and really put the clamps down on Owens down the stretch. Owens had some early quick points, then some points towards the end, but took some poor off balance shots during the middle part of game. Owens is a superb athlete though, you can just tell by watching him. Owens will end up as one of the best to play at the County, just a little concerned about the total offense. When Owens was not hitting we look out of place, but would love to mention I really enjoyed watching the hustle of the rest of the team in the second and third periods, they really got after the ball and had some quality rebounds. This is a great bunch of young men to watch and should make for a great season. They have definetly improved since early season, and obviously have the best player in the 16th Region.

 

If I was guessing, Hoggard also feels they had some home cookin on the refs, and in some ways might have, because it was questionable. I am not sure the guys doing the games there yesterday was official Refs or not. The biggest call they missed and said that they didnt see was when one of the Hoggard players absolutely knocked Shannon out of bounds about 10 feet on purpose. It was a absolute cheap shot and the only way you could have not seen it was to have your eyes closed.

If you do you would realize that the referee's on all games last evening are not only "official" as you put it but several of them have officiated some of the biggest games your team has played in the past several years. Obviously nobody can/will put much faith in your perspective since it is certainly not a well informed opinion.

I will say that the Refs of the earlier games are names and faces that I know, and Refs that I know for a fact have done some bigtime games. The Refs of the BC/Hoggard game- I cant say the same. One wasnt even old enough to have ever even done any Regional games. And to say some have done some of the biggest games that my team has played, then 2 of them must be hard up for money, because I have seen them doing plenty of 4TH GRADE games this year. :thumb:

 

This is no offense to any of these guys, I am sure they are trying hard and that they are fine men, if you would have seen some of the events in last nights games, then you would have known what I am talking about. One ref delayed the jumpball of the last game because he just then realized he didnt have his whistle and even waited on the floor as he went to get it, and the other Ref missed at least 2 or 3 obvious calls in the first 10 plays. :confused:
