If an 8th grader gets in a Varsity game, does that restrict them at all if they were to move to another school district during the summer going into their freshman year?

If an 8th grader gets in a Varsity game, does that restrict them at all if they were to move to another school district during the summer going into their freshman year?

 

No. The way I understand the rule is the player has to be a matriculated high school student.

Out of curiosity, does the middle school rule also apply to holdbacks as well? It would make some sense if it applied either way. A holdback would be of the same age, and theoretically, at the same point in their adult development as their competition. However, blanket rule applying to middle schoolers seems much easier to enforce, and there would be less opportunities for appeals, etc.
