So how would you send text messages? Would it type what you speak into it?

 

Yup, and more than likely would have an option to read it back to you. Alot of the phones have something similar to this but not nearly to the degree if which they're proposing. Some times when I'm driving I've used the feature to send a text with my droid but you have to remember to speak in a proper way that the cell phones technology is going to understand. I highly doubt they get rid of the keyboard, but the article Clyde was talking about suggested that it wouldn't be necessary for a lot of things the way that it is today.

Id say so but people will still have to read any text messages sent back to them Id assume. So we'll still have those people texting and driving.

 

Actually I can have the phone read the text message for me when I receive it, however I have to push a button for it to do that as of now. In the future probably much sooner than later you won't have to use the buttons at all. In fact a lot of phones currently have an "air plane mode" where it turns off certains features and what not. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next year or two we see phones with a "car mode" where every thing would become hands free while on that mode.

Not to be a smart butt, but the last 2 cell phones I've had can do voice texting and dialing. Does this go a step further into the internet browsing?

 

Exactly, over the past few years the technology was there but just wasn't utilized and developed in the manner in which they're proposing for the future. Plus it's all about demand, new cell phone laws all across the country have caused an increase in demand for hands free capability. The technology sounds neat but will take time to work out all of the kinks I'm sure.

Interesting. I have a droid, and love it however I feel as though I'd like to be able to actually store more music on my phone. Perhaps I just need to do more research on using the droid for music. I dunno.
