Mason County Royals Win 8th Region Boys Golf Tourney

Featured Replies

I guess it helps to have a good team (undefeated in dual matches this season, I think) and the regional tourney on your home course (Maysville Country Club). Royals finished with a team score of 310 and had the top two finishers; and 3 of the 6 rounds in the 70s (Tanner Walton 74, Bradley Litzinger 75, Dee Hampton 78). Newport Catholic was the runner-up at 332 and will also send their team to the state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club. Individuals qualifying are Sean Moreland, Williamstown; Tim Livingood, Grant County; and Zach Treilubs, Bourbon County. Mason County is hoping to improve on last year's 11th-place finish at the state tourney.

Congratulations to all of this year's state qualifiers.thumb[1].gif

Unfortunately or fortunately I was there for the duration with a group and what a long day. With all the rain it wreaked havoc on the course. Can anyone post scores for the top 15-20 golfers? I know there were a couple players that came out of nowhere and posted some really good scores. Also want to see who was the overall individual winner?

This is what I was able to find...................If anyone has anybody else to add we will edit the "top 10.".

1. Tanner Walton Mason County 74 12th

2. Bradley Litzinger Mason County 75 12th

3. Sean Moreland Williamstown 77 12th

4t. Dee Hampton Mason County 78 11th

4t. Tim Livingood Grant County 78 12th

6t. Drew McDonald NCC 79 9th

6t. Zach Trelobs Bourbon County 79 9th

8. Jackson Bardo Highlands 80 ?

9. Colin Dupont NCC 81 11th

10t. Briley Seiter Silver Grove 82 8th

10t. Parker Harris Highlands 82 ?

Couple observations: The weather was awful and if anybody thinks playing golf is easy try walking three and a half miles in nasty rainy weather. Then when it finally does become nice you are soaking wet the entire time you play. Mason County really knew how to play the home course. How many matches have they played away from home this year?

The freshmen from NCC (McDonald) is a huge kid............Hits the ball a long way. Seemed athletic....Does he play other sports.

Does anybody know the grades for the two young men from Highlands?

Seeing some young players finish high shows you do not have to be a big hitter to be successful. I think one of Mason County's golfers who shot in the mid eighties was an 8th grader; plus you have one 8th grader in the top 10 from Silver Grove (Seiter). And 2 9th graders going to play in the state tourney who shot 79 (McDonald and Trelobs)!!

I saw some schools there (By my recollection there are 18 in the region) that did not post scores so i am not sure if some of them left because of the delay or just did not post their players scores.

I know Parker Harris is a frosh..The crazy thing is Briley Seiter from SG just started playing golf. This was the 13th time he has ever been on a golf course and shot an 82.....WOW!!! McDonald (NCC) is also a very good basketball player.

Not surprised at all with these results. Mason Co. has a very nice team.

I'm guessing Maysville CC was a mud pit. I was there in mid-August and it was in awful shape. I hope the rumor is true that they are going to put in Zoysia fairways. They would benefit greatly from that move.
