I'll give it a shot -- surgically.

 

A - Highlands does not benefit from Open Enrollment. If you live within the geographic boundaries of Fort Thomas Independent Schools, you are entitled to attend. If not, you are permitted to pay tuition to attend if there is room (and there usually is.)

B - The pads go on most kids in Fort Thomas in 3rd grade when they start playing in the FTJFL. It is an instructional league from 3rd - 8th grade and usually has approx. 350 players each year.

C - If you are talking about the pads going on early in the year, lifting begins in JAN (although some start the day after the State Championship game if HHS is fortunate enough to be in it. 10 days of contact in the spring per KHSAA guidelines. The day after school is out, football practice is held and continues MON - FRI until AUG 1st. 2-a-days begin AUG 1st until week of 1st scrimmage. Practice continues until eliminated (hopefully not until early DEC.) Cycle starts anew.

D - I think the FTIS administration is "pro-athletics," but frankly they are hamstrung by purse strings. Most of the support of the football team comes from the community (including door decorating Moms, field painting Dads, etc.), the Sideline Club (football specific) and the Booster Club (all athletics).

E - I kind of got lost after that, so I'm not sure I can respond.

I can respect that reason. I would do that too. I am looking forward to going to Maysville for the game. Never been there for football...
