Newark, since you are the resident "Preview Expert", what do some of the previews have that make them better? What do some do, that others don't? If you can relate it to what the Ashland paper does, that is the one I'm most familiar with. Just wondering.

Ashland’s paper does the best of any in Kentucky I get.

 

For me what makes a good preview is if

*The rosters are in it with height and weight included along with positions each play plays along with their number

* Two deep roster(More papers seem to be doing this but not nearly enough

* An article on each team in the preview that gives info on each player they mention, the more the better. In the article if the players stats from last season are provided along with his height and weight in makes the article better in my eyes.

*Direction to each road game using the school as the starting point.

*Last years schedule with results along with new schedule and the series record between the two schools

* In bold print words from the coach on how he feels his team will do

*(This is a huge one) Make sure the articles on each school run on consecutive pages. I find it hard to keep up with, when the article starts on pg 5 and ends on page 33(Example)

*Color team photo

Thanks for the info. I think the Ashland paper does a great job, but I have little to compare the preview to, and was just wondering what other papers did.
