Wow...I am shocked by the score. Mason Co ranked in the top 10 in 3A and Lafayette not ranked in the top 10 in 6A. Guess it showes the difference it the classes. Lafayette is in our district this year along with Madison Central, and Tates Creek...tuff district.

 

 

I am sure the Royals will bounce back next week.

They do seem to get their fair share of praise. But in fairness, they've had absolutely debilitating injuries during the last two postseasons that have stunted their potential for playoff success.

Injuries have killed Mason Co the last two years, if Mason Co had Pawsat both years they could have made a run at the State Title.

Mason Co is very young and will get better, this isn't a team thats gonna go 10-0 or 9-1 like in years passed but Coach B will have the Royals ready when it matters.

I was just posting a reply to someone who said Mason Co was the most overrated team the last two years.

I would like to see a good 6A team from Lex once in a while.

 

Never will be until all of the privates are in their own class. Why would anybody put forth the money and effort and support it takes to build the best of the best when they get to the finals and play a team who has players from 10-14 different counties. I love the level of football that is played at St. X and Trinity but it kills 6a public ball in Ky. Just my opinion.

The last two seasons are pretty impressive but they lost their quarterback last game of the season two years ago, and in the second game of the play offs last year. Your words are unfair and inaccurate. This year, I, myself, have made the argument they are ranked too high. Offensive line except one guard, gone. Quarterback and top receiver, gone. Middle linebacker, who led the team in tackles per game, gone. Fullback, who led the team in yards per carry, gone. And, at virtually every position, the new player person stepping in isn't quite as good as the one who left.

 

It'll be a tough year for Mason County, but they still have a shot at winning their district.

Are there teams that 10-0 and 9-1 regulars seasons aren't impressive?

 

I felt Mason was over ranked much of the time myself, but other than Belfry, Sheldon Clark, and Russell (I think they were ranked when Mason beat them at least one of the past 3 years), I've never seen other top ten teams play. I have seen 2A Alcoa (TN) play, and I doubt any 3A school in Kentucky could beat them.

 

BTW - last year's seniors were members for the first Mason Co. team to beat Russell at Russell (they did it twice), and beat Russell two consecutive years.
