That could be an interesting race with Mason, Russell, and perhaps West Carter. I suspect Mason County is the district favorite but those should be good ballgames.

 

I agree, Mason will be the favorite, but Russell will have a nice team this year. And, I know it's 7 on 7, but West Carter looked really good at the skill positions this summer. In fact, I would say they were the biggest surprise in the area. The down side West has to find some linemen, that is where they will be hurting. But, if they develop some good linemen they could really compete this season. West has been greatly improved over the last two seasons and I expect it to continue.

Who will quarterback the Royals?

 

The word I've heard in incoming freshman, Jake Omara. Judging from this video from last year's basketball season, he has a strong and accurate arm.

 

Royals went to Georgia this past week for 7-7 and went 2-2 and they did beat the team that won there pool..Congrats guys im sure it was fun to get away..

I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the championship game. Certainly they need to stay healthy, something that has killed them in the postseason the last couple of years. But I would be surprised if anyone beats Louisville Central in 3A. But Mason can perhaps give them a run.

 

Isn't Bell Co now 3a? I'd think a Top 4a team from the past 4-5 years would certainly compete with any of the new 3a teams, including Central? I know they lost Dudley, but, they've got alot of tradition and the kids have tasted alot of success the last couple of years. Would Bell have competed with Central last year? I think they would have.

Mason should be good this year but the State Championship talk is way to premature for this team. They have a question mark at QB and will likely be starting a Freshman. When you have to put Harris in the wildcat, the offense becomes very predictable. They need to be able to throw the ball in order to keep the defense honest. Harris is an absolute stud and will at times have to put this team on his back. We should know a little more of what direction they will go at QB in the coming weeks.
