How'd Tibbs do?

 

I guess the refs in Indy didn't take too kindly to the poor officials in Louisville.

Unlike last night's boys game, that's a real free throw discrepancy.

Indiana came out with a whole different level of intensity tonight. Their half court defense really made it difficult on Kentucky to get anything going on offense. They keyed on Sarah H. And really shut her down. Kentucky had less success tonight preventing penetration from the Indiana guards tonight. Kentucky turned the ball over quite a bit again tonight. Kentucky played hard and really battled, but could never put together a consistent run.

 

Tibbs only played a few minutes. Coach went with a different rotation. There was not a real emphasis to get the ball into the low post which is Tibbs' strength. She cheered and supported the team throughout and had a fabulous all star experience. I would have liked to see her get more of a chance to work against the undersized Indiana posts.

Whether Lauren got minutes or not she is still a top all star to me, quality young lady and a fabulous player who now moves on to the next level. Good luck and I will miss reading about her high school days.

Thanks Panda! She is thrilled to be moving onto Marquette at the end of this month to take two summer classes and begin working out with the strength coach.

 

As far as the refs are concerned, there were a number of calls that really left you scratching your head. Kentucky could never get any traction because of questionable calls or no calls. Indiana played extremely aggressive man to man all night. Very inconsistent is the best way to describe it.

"Turnabout is foul play"?

 

Indiana coach and players clearly state they came out with the intent of being more physical than Kentucky and they get 33 foul calls in their favor as opposed to 17 against them, many of which came toward the end of the game when it seemed the officials were trying to make it look more even. Wow!

In the first game foul calls were 23-21 in favor of Kentucky and free throws were 30 by Kentucky and 26 by Indiana. That seems pretty even overall, particularly in a "home court advantage" situation for Kentucky. Guess Indiana showed what a real home court advantage is!

 

They get the victory but one I see as highly tainted and one I wouldn't be too proud of if I was a member of that team.

 

My two cents.

Our Ky girls were nothing less than amazing all week long - both in victory and defeat where they were gracious in both respects. Ms Basketball led the way - doing everything from being the hardest worker in practice to giving others water during timeouts. She is the consummate teammate and is deserving of all of her accolades. These young ladies truly loved being a part of this team and were unconcerned about who got it done just as long as Kentucky got it done. Coach Stallings did an exceptional job of pulling 12 individual players together and making them a team in one short week. We should all be proud of the way these young ladies represented their state in a positive, unselfish nature -- banding together to become truly the best they could be. That's what sports used to be about and is what it should be about. I am blessed to have been a part of such a great team!
