Sara had 21 points and 13 rebounds and a number of blocks, including a huge one on Indiana Miss Basketball Bria Goss near the end of the game. Carla Booth added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

What a great team effort by the Kentucky girls. My Lauren has been telling me how great their team chemistry is. It came through loud and clear tonight. They scratched, clawed, hussled and out worked Indiana. It was not always pretty, but they hung in there and got a great win. Girls on the bench who are not used to being there cheering and supporting their team mates. Hammond led them, but ten other girls scored. They played lock down defense with very few lapses. I hope we can get the brooms out tomorrow night and sweep the series. Congratulations girls!

Never been to one of these but it appears as though it really is a play to win situation. 30 plus minutes for Hammond and Goss says alot.

In 2008 Kentucky won both games, 76 - 59 and 101 - 62.

 

Prior to that you have to go back to 1991 for a Kentucky sweep. Kentucky has swept the series 8 times, including 3 of the first 4 years the series was held. Indiana has swept 13 times.

 

Over the past 10 years, going into this year, Indiana has won 13 of 20 meetings so a sweep this year would be sweet.
