Montgomery County 6 Bracken County 1- 10th Region Softball Tournament

Featured Replies

With Montgomery County leading 1-0 in the top of the 6th inning, Bracken County committed three costly errors, which led to a 4-run inning for the favored Lady Indians. Bracken scored 1 unearned run in the bottom half of the inning, while Montgomery plated another run in the top of the 7th.

Both pitchers were extremely solid, as Montgomery's Erin Charles struck out 12 (I think). Bracken County freshman Emma Conley K'd 8 in an impressive performance.

Congrats to Montgomery County on advancing to the 10th region finals for the umpteenth time!

Congrats also to Coach Persinger & the Lady Bears on a very successful season! :thumb:

I was just looking for this score on the scoreboard. Congrats to the Indians on advancing.

Any scores on the GRC game?

What else is new? Sure would be nice to see anyone besides Montgomery or Clark advance, would like to see Bracken turn the corner one of these years:thumb:

I will say it again and again until Campbell County gets rid of the slow pitch in the league and teach FAST PITCH no one will ever take it away from Montgomery or Clark. I think Bracken with their pitching could but you have to have everything else behind her and I am not sure Bracken has that.

Last I heard, GRC had a large lead in the 3rd inning.

Gonna be difficult for anyone to turn that corner. For someone outside the 40th district to win the 10th region, they'll most likely have to beat both Montgomery & Clark. That's asking a lot of anyone. The three programs most likely to do it are Bracken County, Bishop Brossart or Harrison County. I think those three schools have established themselves as the second-tier in the 10th. I know Bracken County has quite a bit of promise for next year, losing just one senior who saw significant playing time. I know Brossart loses Miller, but don't know much about Harrison. If Bracken stays healthy next year, they could perhaps go a step further. Only time will tell.

This is what happened last year to Harrison Co. They defeated Montgomery Co in the semi's, but lost to GRC in the finals of the region.

I wouldn't count Bourbon County out of that mix, granted they are also from the 40th district. The Colonels split with Montgomery and Clark in the regular season and beat Harrison both times this year. Their feeder program is just hitting the high school with a good talent pool. Pitching and Catching abound for several years to come. Only time will tell. Good luck to both the Cardinals and Indians in the 10th reion finals.

Having to beat 2 good teams out of the same district every year is a tough task for any one team. Good luck to Clark & Montgomery tonight & congrats to the Lady Mustangs & Polar Bears for a great season!!!

I was thinking more of the body of work over the last five years or so; but you are right in that Bourbon had a solid year & looks to be a formidable program next season as well.
