I know they've been thinking about getting one for a while. St. Henry had a used one that Cov Cath almost got years back. If they did get one, the kids should be happy. No more (or not as much) sponging the fields...

It arrived today I believe or maybe this weekend but yes CovCath now has a brand new tarp!

Never heard of such a thing. And if one did exist, not only would it weigh a jillion (yes, I made up that word) pounds, but would cost a gazillion dollars (made that one up also).

 

Tarps are wonderful things, no doubt. Ryle greatly benefitted from ours last year. This year, not so much. Ultimately, if it is going to rain all day long for days at a time, it just doesn't help much. You can't leave a tarp on the field for days and days at a time, even in the Spring, as you'll kill the grass. The other thing to remember is that all that rain that lands on the tarp and doesn't soak into the infield has to go somewhere - so it leaves either your foul territories or your shallow outfield very, very, very wet.

Honestly I don't know but for the price I have head, it better cover some rather large area and no I won't tell you the price I heard, as it was only a comment not a fact given to me by Krumps or Eck!

Gotcha. I was told it covered the entire outfield which I had never seen before.

Most full-sized tarps are either 150' x 150' or 160' x 160'. Without the roller, which is pretty darn expensive by itself, they generally run between $3000-5000, depending on quality.

They will be happy for awhile, you'll here it just the same after they pull that thing full of water 10 times. They better have rubber boots as well.
