Hickey, Kates to make decisions

Featured Replies

Christian County High School will host a press conference for seven members of the Colonels boys’ Sweet 16 champions on Tuesday at 4 p.m. EDT.

Among those expected to make a college decision at that time will be Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey and second-team All-State selection Donovan Kates.

Hickey, who averaged 18.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.0 steals in 33 games as a senior, has dropped Western Kentucky from consideration according to his coach Kerry Stovall. He had also been listing LSU and South Carolina.

Kates, who averaged 22.5 points a game, will pick either Tennessee-Martin or Manhattan.

Veontae Lewis, Nick Riley, Isaiah Dooley and Dalton Workman are also going to be honored with either an academic or athletic scholarship. The seventh player - Bubba Tandy - has signed to play football at Kentucky.

Hickey will be a great addition to any team, as will Kates. I sure wish Western was still in the picture for Hickey.

My guess is LSU. Have yet to hear they aren't still his leader.

Kates is going to Manhattan.

Hickey signs with LSU.
