WOW is right! St. X has improved sooooo much since AD Donhoff got rid of Bergamini. He wanted the basketball program to go in a different direction and now it has! I hope the re-districting moves that powerhouse Collegiate away from us next year.

 

The real question is that why can X can get the elite athletes on the the football squad but not on the Bball squad. Is that because playing both is discouraged?

The athletes St. X has on the court are plenty capable. Let's be honest here. Collegiate may only have one player that could make the St. X varsity roster. However, they kept the pace in their favor, played defense and rebounded, and made a big shot when it counted most. Upsets like this one are why Kentucky will never go to class basketball for the post-season. I'd say there will be a celebration at Collegiate today!

I disagree! They haven't been in the top 7-8 of the 7th region in the past 5-6 years and that's inexcusable when they are competing for state tiltles yearly in about every other sport.

Let me say this. They are making an effort to get the best kids from the JCPS middle schools. Explain to me how they got Shaw (whose brother is a star at Seneca) and some of their other highly regarded freshman/sophomores. To say Collegiate has the talent X has is absurd. This was and will always be a huge upset.

I was never implying that this was not an upset, just that X is and has been in the bottom half of the 7th for many years and that doesn't make sense. I did see that they have a talented freshman this season who was not a CSAA kid.

It doesn't make any difference. Neither of these teams was going to beat Ballard, J'Town, Eastern or Trinity in the regional.

 

What's your point? This is one of the silliest post I have ever read. Yeah, they probably won't beat those teams but does it really matter at the moment. I say let the Collegiate men enjoy their win. Weak, very weak post my friend.

Klein has done a good job. This was a good Sr. Class, but the glue (point guard Michael Ising had a bad ankle and only played 1/2 the game at most) St. X has a good sophomore group and a great Freshman group coming up. As long as he and coach Glaser can get the Football/Basketball transition figured out, they will be tough to deal with in another year.
