Courier-Journal’s AP boys rankings 2/8

Featured Replies

The Eastern High School boys’ basketball team kept the No. 1 spot in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings released today, despite last week’s loss at Tates Creek.

The Eagles (22-2) are followed by Jeffersontown (19-3), Ballard (22-2), Clark County (21-4) and Lexington Catholic (18-5). Here’s a link to the entire rankings: www.courier-journal.com/litratingsb

From Jason Frakes:

I also kept Eastern No. 1 in my ballot for The Associated Press poll, but it was a tough choice. I considered moving Clark County to the top, and I wouldn’t argue with those who did.

Fact is, all of the top teams have at least one loss to teams ranked below them - Eastern (Tates Creek), Clark County (Henry Clay), Ballard (Seneca), Jeffersontown (Bullitt East) and Scott County (Lexington Christian). My rationale is that Eastern’s "bad loss" is to the best team.

Here’s how I voted today:

BOYS

1. Eastern (22-2)

2. Clark County (21-4)

3. Ballard (22-2)

4. Jeffersontown (19-3)

5. Scott County (19-4)

6. Tates Creek (18-4)

7. Lexington Catholic (18-5)

8. Christian County (13-8)

9. Henry Clay (16-7)

10. Warren Central (17-7)

Five more to watch: Trinity (17-7), Bullitt East (20-5), Bowling Green (18-6), Moore (17-5), Western (13-7)

These are a joke. Anyone who goes by these needs to get there brains evaluated. Dixie Heights isnt up here and they beat New Cath handily and they also beat Ashland Blazer by about 20.

Once again I must correct the record, Dixie won their matchup with Ashland 87 - 77 as can be seen on Riherds scoreboards. I thought Dixie played better than Ashland did in that game.

I don't think he is listening. Maybe in Sportsfan's mind 10 is almost 20.

Or was it a 20 point game late and he already left?

Who's to say? I do know Ashland's ranking in the top 20 is from more than one source.

Would you like to give us your top 20? Would like to see how you see the teams.

I can tell you first hand that Holmes, Boone County and Dixie Heights all deserve to be in front of NCC and Ashland

So you think there should be three/four 9th region teams in the top 20? Isn't the 9th region down this year? Who would you drop from the list to put these 3 teams in and where would you rank them?

I agree with the poster that said Dixie should be in the top 20 over both Ashland and Newcath.

Dixie beat Newcath by 13 and the 87-77 score against Ashland isn't indicative of how lopsided this game was.

It wasn't until the final 2 minutes or so when Dixie had subs in that Ashland was able to close the gap. Dixie led by as many as 22 or 23 and had a 17 point lead going in to the 4th quarter.

If Ashland is a top 20 team, so are Holmes, Boone Co, Dixie, and Newcath out of the 9th.

I don't think there should be 4 teams in the top 20, but you could put Holmes, Dixie, or Boone in the 15-20 range and I wouldn't argue at all.

Whose place would they take?

Whose place would they take?

Newcath or Ashland.

I'd personally have Dixie #19 and Boone #20 in place of Newcath and AShland.

Dixie has beat both teams and Boone has beaten Newcath....yet to play Dixie.

If Holmes beats Newcath tomorrow night, I'd say throw them in there. They will own wins over Dixie and Newcath.

You first posted 15-20....just didn't know who you were replacing at the 15-18 spot.
