Boone County 68 Highlands 42

Highlands 10 5 10 17 42

Boone Co. 26 13 15 14 68

Highlands (11-8) -- Abner 1, Conner 13, Glenn 2, Fisse 2, Schaefer 3, Daley 18, Dunn 2, Bryson 1.

Boone Co. (14-3) -- Jones 5, Marschall 6, Harrison 3, Shrout 13, Browning 8, Moss 21, Nash 6, Switzer 5.

Easy win for Boone County in a makeup of last night's cancellation. Boone got out the gate quickly behind Moss' 13 points in the first six minutes of the game and coasted after that. The lead got out to 29 early in the 3rd quarter and stay pretty steady after that.

This score really didnt surprise me a bit. No way can Highlands play with this yrs BC team. PERIOD!!!! (not even on HHS best night)

I watched this game from a different perspective tonite and I am very concerned with the dis-service that the officiating crew afforded BC.

Trust me folks, I am a HHS fan and this has nothing to do with sour grapes or losing this game, it has everything to do with the 9th region not fairing very well in the Sweet 16 and this concerns me.

As good as BC is and as good as Coach Fookes is, they will win the 9th Region this yr hands down but they will certainly struggle in the Sweet 16 because they are being allowed to play and coach (by the officials in the 9th) certain ways that will not be tolerated down state, plain and simple.

This BC team could very well beat em all and win the State Championship but I doubt this will happen because of their style of play.

Nothing wrong with their style of play, I am just saying what wasnt called on them tonight and many other nights will eventually catch up with them and doom them late in the season. If the 9th Officials were really genuine and concerned then they would make it a little tougher on them then easier as it may pay huge dividends later. JMO.

If only winning Regions is the ultimate goal then so be it. BC is King. Good Luck Rebels.

Sounds to me like a downright conspiracy going on. Yep thats what you got if the officials won't make it tougher on them then easier. How in the world can a 9th region team win state? It does make me wonder though....could the other 15 region officials be calling the game different so the 9th would be at a disadvantage; a larger conspiracy may be in play. Better keep an eye on this one.

Hboy, being an 8th region fan I can understand your concern for the 9th especially with BC lurking.

No conspiracy at all going on, just a dis-service imo. Hey, until someone makes it tough on BC this yr then they may wind up getting a little too comfty with their blowouts in the 9th which could ultimately cost them down the stretch. But of course this is probably what you are hoping for. LOL

Boone always has gotten preferential treatment from the local refs. On your other comment I don't Boone wins the 9th Region hands down... just saying...

I do stand corrected on "hands down". Probably wrong words. I know Ryle will have something to say about it as well as NewCath. Other then that, not good. Problem in 36th Dist is HHS and NCC will draw each other in 1st round eliminating one of those two from the Region tourney and then that team will have to play Ryle with BC getting a walk. Sorry though, I just dont think it will matter, JMO.

Ryle certainly has the athletes to match up but I think a certain lady steals the show in the end and her number isnt 40.

Now, throw Ronny Dawn's name in the mix with those Ryle athletes and this becomes a must see game across the state and worth the price of admission. You think people swallow whistles now!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!

I hear that, at least for the boys, 9th Region officials tend to call things tight. Is it a different story on the girls' side?

I've watched Boone play in two out-of-the-area tournaments this season, as well as at three different games in Ohio, and I'm not too worried about the type of "favorable" officiating they get from 9th district officials. Fact is I've seen no difference in the way Boone games have been officiated in any of those venues, all with different officials.

I did think the officiating was erratic last night, making some ticky-tack calls while letting some obvious (at least to me) things go. Not sure if that favors the stronger team or the weaker of the two though, because it tends to break rhythm and that just might affect the better team more.

In any case I'm not worried about the type of officiating being different because I haven't seen that this season in watched most of Boone's games.

The local officiating has been suspect for years, IMO. This past Tuesday in Ryle's game against Simon Kenton they showed favoritism towards Wainscott, but in a blow out it didn't really matter. In a much tighter game it would of been huge. Certain players and certain coaches over the years have gotten special treatment. That's just life in the 9th Region. Being a referee is undoubtably a thankless job but if this is something you like and choose to do, please keep your head in the game and set the tone early and call it both ways.

Jesse Daley with 18! Impressive. I do feel for Ali Conner though. She is a fearless competitor. This has to be killing her.

Easy to say in your position.
