Nice win for the Jags!!

Good win against a quality opponent. They have a chance to get a 6th win next week on Thursday versus Carroll County before a very tough matchup against CovCath on Saturday in Park Hills.

Cooper led 10-9 at the first quarter stop, but Brossart took the lead 22-20 at halftime. In the interim Brossart enjoyed leads of 17-10, 19-12, and 22-15.

The Mustangs pushed the lead to 28-23 in the third quarter when Junior Joe Jennings was whistled for three rapid-succession fouls and relegated to the bench, opening up the interior. Late in the 3rd quarter the game was tied at 32-32, and Cooper poked a nose in front, 34-32 after three periods.

The two teams alternated the lead throughout much of the 4th quarter until the 3:46 mark, when Cooper took the lead for good. The Jags enjoyed a six point lead at 43-37 when Daniel Schultz drained a three-pointer to cut the Jags lead to one-possession at 43-40 at the one minute mark.

The Mustangs had every opportunity to tie or win the game in the final minute, sending three consecutive Jaguars to the free-throw line 1-plus and all three obliged by missing the front end, and the game went into the history books as a 43-40 Cooper victory.

 

Asiel Langley and Devonte Bradley led the Jags (unofficially) with 12 points each. Daniel Schultz and Justin Saunders countered with 11 each for the Mustangs.

 

THe Brossart JVs won the prelim event 55-38 in a game more closely contested than the final score indicates. Brossart sophomore Ben Uebel played as near-flawless offensive game is as humanly possible hitting 4 3-pointers and going 9 of 9 from the FT line to lead all scorers with 23.

 

Brossart won the freshmen game 32-21 to improve to 14-0.
