I heard Micah J. took himself out of the game last night with 6 minutes left and no one knows why? Is this true?

 

If it is true - then he does NOT get Mr. Football...IMO.

Micah only came out of the game because of cramps per the radio announcer! He was cramping up quite a bit along with a few others although it was cold! Let's not put the bad guy image on this kid with hear say please because some posters will take that bait and run with it!

That was NOT here-say...it came from a very reliable un-biased source close to the program...I am not trying to promote anyone or damage Micah on this...just trying to understand the facts...

I think that Justin Burke deserves to win this award. He's the one who finally got Lex Cath over that dreaded playoff "curse", and if they win state, there is no doubt he should win

I would give the edge to Burke after Friday's win, but losing didn't hurt Johnson all that much, I don't think. Curtis Pulley won the award last season, and Hopkinsville got beat in the semis. Yes, they advanced farther than Ft. Campbell did this season, but not winning a state title did not deminish Pulley's chances of becoming Kentucky's Mr. Football. The race between Burke and Johnson is obviously very close. It will be interesting to see who comes out winning the award!

I listened to the game on the radio. Johnson was playing with 6 minutes left. He went out of the game on a 3rd down play with around 2 minutes to go. He battled cramps the 2nd half and they got the best of him late in the game.

The whole Falcaons team was cramping up, one after after another. It didn't look like anyone was taking water to them during timeouts. I guess they thought they didn't need to drink because it was so cold. Johnson is a great player, but I don't think he should win over Burke. It seems like the TB Atcher would do all the dirty work coming down the field and then they would hand it to Johnson when they got close to the goal line.

I would be shocked if Burke doesn't win it. He plays QB for a team from the second largest city in the state and his team has advanced farther in the playoffs. That being said...if I was voting, I would vote for Johnson. Taking him off of his team would mean losing its best offensive and defensive player. He's the best defensive player in the state, and a top level offensive player at the high school level.

No brainer, Justin Burke...Not taking anything away from any other player...

 

You just do not see head coaches allowing HS QB's to "take the game into your hands" in crucial situations like Sphire allows Burke to do. The kid is incredible. The kid is going to be outstanding in college. With the Pro style QB coach (49ers) he will have at NC State do not be surprised to see him play on Sundays. He can be every bit as good as Alex Smith.
