January 6, 201115 yr I don't think you can put all Contemporary Christian music in one category. There's soft rock types, harder rock types, country, etc. But it's definitely more about the message being enhanced by the music. Not the other way around. FYI - Lincoln Brewster was the guitarist for Steve Perry (Journey) before deciding to use his talents to write Christian music. If you haven't heard any of his stuff, the guitar leads are pretty good.
January 6, 201115 yr If that's the tune you guys are offering up as the beacon light of the genre, it's a sad statement about the genre. That song makes me cringe with every whiny word the singer utters. Reminds me of bad emo music crossed with Celine Dion. I disagree. For a song like that, which is very overtly Jesus-centered, to garner considerable mainstream attention reveals that the song has great quality by today's standards. Now, if you want to argue today's standards are much lower, then that's something with which I can't disagree. A lot of the older stuff, like the video I've attached below, is where you find true, five-star, top-of-the-line Christian music... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VPcPCwK_G0
January 6, 201115 yr On a more serious note, this is actually my favorite song from the CCM movement.
