Final from Dry Ridge.

Heard from a St. Henry parent recently that 2 or 3 good players quit the team about a week before the first game. What's going on over there?

Only thing I have heard is that Zach Barnett is out for a while which hurts the team scoring,maybe NKYBOY can shed some light on those players he seems to keep up with the CRU, I thought this would be the Crusaders first win, but I was wrong. Their next two against McNick and Dayton I would have to say are must wins for them. To start the season 0-6 with the schedule after these two games they could go into the ALL A at 0-12. Good luck to the Crusaders.

How about the JV squad for the Cru? What kind of talent do they have? Any speculations on what Cru varsity may look like next year?

No one from the JV or Varsity team has quit St Henry. Not sure where that rumor came from. Barnett is out with a broken fibula and thats hurt this team from a leadership standpoit on the floor.

 

No one quite understands that this St. Henry varsity team has 4 games of varsity experience and have played a very tough schedule so far (Brossart, Holmes, Highlands, Grant). No one on this team except Barnett has any varsity experience from past years due to the past 2 classes having more than 7+ seniors in each class.

 

As for the JV team....they have been a bright spot so far. They started with a OT loss to Brossart and then bad 2nd half cost them a win against Holmes. Then beat Highlands and Grant by around 10 but led throughtout those games. Its too early for varsity speculation in 2011/12. But a lot of players on JV are going to be pushing the Juniors and Seniors on varsity for their jobs.....and thats a good thing on both sides.

 

Bottom line is this teams going to have to get better and play better basketball. Lack of experience isn't a excuse that Coach Faust is going to accept.

Wow your 8th grader must be a very talented one if you are worried about how the varsity will be when he is a freshman. Good luck.

IMO the academic programs at the schools being considered are on equal footing. This area has some great academic programs to choose from, he will get a fine education at any of these schools. That said, the next consideration is basketball, because that is his passion---period. The comment about how Varsity Cru may be next year is not becasue I think my boy will jump to that level as a freshman. It's my way of looking ahead at things because IMO the more successful the varsity team is, the more St Henry gets noticed by other potential talented middle school players also making some big decsions.

Ok - I guess I understand your way of thinking, you want the most talented 8th graders to go there, thereby creating even more competition for your son to even make the team????? Seems to me that normally kids look at it the opposite way, thinking if they went to one school they would have a better chance to make the team as there was less competition there to make the team. Interesting. Anyway, since you did not mention financial obligation as a determining factor in your decision, then I agree with Sandman - Oak Hill may be the best place as they always have a lot of talent every year!

What happened to St. Henry? They usually have a very competitive team. What is their JV and frosh teams like?
